Discussion Board QuestionJIM MCNAY, INSTRUCTOR
• Look at the two sets of photographs.
• Group A, photos1-6, Group B, photos 7-12
• Both are by the same photographer, Ansel Adams.
• Group A
• Group B
• Part I
• Write about the basic differences you see between these two sets of photographs. Post your answers to the class the discussion board,
• What key differences do you notice between the two sets of pictures?
• What different concerns on the part of the photographer do you see?
• Do you notice different approaches to the picture-making in each case?
• Part II
• Ansel Adams was ultimately judged to be a fine art photographer, i.e., the kind we often see in museums and galleries.
• In your estimation, does one of these sets of pictures “fine art” while the other does not? Do they both qualify for this title?
• If you find one set is NOT fine art, what is it? What would you call it or how would you name it?
