The KD74XX series provides Product Safety andAssured Quality for customers

The KD74XX X-ray Inspection System confirms correct productweight, component number, placement and shape while constantly monitoring for the presence of dense contaminants.

The simple implementation of ComplexImaging Techniques allows low density con-taminants, such a bone and plastics as wellas metallic wires to be reliably detectedwithout unnecessary losses caused byextrended set up times and high levels offalse rejection.

Safety in design

Priority is given to prevention of X-ray leakage.Operator safety is of utmost importance.

ANRITSU safety mechanismEmergency stop switchThe power supply is cut off by pressing a switch, then the rotatingpart is stopped and the X-ray radiatorcompletely stops.

X-ray irradiation displayThe lamp is lit while X-rays are beingirradiated.

X-ray irradiation ON/OFF keyTurning the key to OFF stops X-rayirradiation completely.

X-ray shield coverThe cover opens by the ON/OFF keyof the X-ray radiator. The X-ray radiator completely stops due to theaction of the cover open/close sensorwhen the cover opens.

Monitoring sensor for hand insertionWhen the sensor is interrupted for acertain period of time, X-ray irradiationis stopped.

Leakage prevention curtainPrevent X-ray leakage. When inspectingunpacked products, additional coversmade of SUS are furnished instead, toavoid possible contact of the materialswith lead to the products.

Safety managementX-ray Inspection System has been designed to fully satisfy the safe operation. However, to ensure even higher safety,

use the safety procedures outlined below.

Depending on the product shape, weight and packaging, it maybe necessary to furnish X-ray leakage prevention covers to theupstream and downstream conveyors, instead of using X-ray leakprevention curtains.

2. Management of the working hours of operators

4. No disassembly or modification

NEVER modify or disassemble the main unit, covers, X-ray leakprevention curtains, safety covers, safety interlocks, etc., other-wise the X-ray leak-proof design may no longer be functional.

(2) Safety for humans

• We are always exposed to radiation: In the natural world, we receive irradiation of 1100 µSv a year on average, and in the case of a chest X-ray,

300 µSv in just one time. (the unit µSv [micro Sievert] indicates the radiation level of X-rays)

• The X-ray leakage level of our X-ray inspection system is 1 µSv/h or lower (1.3 mSv/3 months or lower)Note: 3 months = 13 weeks (52 weeks is one year)

1 µSv/h x 10 hours x 5 days x 13 weeks = 0.65 mSv/3 months

(1) Safety of checked products• WHO concluded in 1980 that "food products irradiated with 10 kGy or lower level of X-rays present no problem in terms of toxic level, nutritional value,

and microbiological aspects".• The maximum X-ray irradiation level by our X-ray inspection system to the checked product is 0.001 Gy or less, which is much lower than the value

designated by WHO standard.• If the product being checked happens to stop moving during X-ray irradiation, X-ray irradiation is stopped to keep the irradiation level to 0.1 Gy or

below.

Stainless steel wire of 0.2 mm diameter x 2-mm long can be detected. Contaminants in single packages and contaminants in tall products upto 120-mm pass height can be detected at high sensitivity.
