God’s Gift of Jesus Christ.

Dear Friends in Christ,
I enjoy poetry from time to time. The following is a poem about the New Year from Avis
Christiansen.
Another year is dawning, a path unknown, untried. T’would fill me with foreboding Had I no hand to guide. But He who walked beside me all through the yesteryear.
Whatever may betide me, has promised to be near. Another year with Jesus! Ah, then, no dread I know. His love is ever precious However the winds may blow. E’en when the storm is fiercest, in Him my soul may rest, And find sweet peace and comfort upon His loving breast. Another year to trust Him – Yes I can trust Him still, Who never yet has failed me As I have sought His will. His rod and staff He giveth to be my strength and stay, And tenderly He leadeth along the homeward way. Another year with Jesus! I thank Thee Lord today, for Thy unfailing presence Along life’s rugged way. Guide me O Redeemer, teach me to bear Thy Name, For Thine own perfect Savior, in me no guilt or shame. Or said simply from the Scriptures, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” Heb 13:5

Spanish Language Outreach update: The Spanish language Christmas movie project has been post-poned until Easter time 2019. Trying to find a Christian family movie in Spanish that is a “theatrical release” that can be found through the broker at Rogers Cinema has proven to be more of a challenge than I thought at first. So, to insure having enough time to promote the event I postponed the movie until Easter. I am close to “booking” a movie, but it takes more time than I imagined. So, look for more informa-tion in the February 2019 Rejoice. Adult Bible Studies on Sunday morning in the Conference Room: I will offer two different Sunday morning Adult Bible studies, both on Church History beginning Sunday January 13. The first from 8-8:30am will be a DVD format on “Church History.” It is a 12 week study to better understand the events and people every Christian should know. The other class “How the Church Grew” begins at 10:15am and uses a workbook to teach historical theology and the growth of our Christian Church. Join us with a cup of coffee in the Conference Room. Every is welcome – bring a friend. Wednesday’s “Word for Word” is an Adult Bible study from 2-3pm in the Conference Room which covers each chapter of the Bible. We have read through Genesis and the first few books of the Old Testament and will resume on Wednesday January 3, 2019. Join us for discussion, questions, and a word for word study of the Bible. Immanuel has lots of vocal music waiting to be sung, we have a beautiful sanctuary and plenty of space set aside for a vocal choir, we have members ready to play piano and lead, what we need is voices ready to learn and sing praises to God. Please consider joining our vocal choir this new year. Singing can be taught like other subjects. Yes, it helps if you’re blessed with a natural gift for singing, but anyone can learn to sing. If you like singing, but feel unprepared, fear no more. On Saturday January 12 from 1-2:30pm Pastor Faulkner will teach Vocal Music 101 – the basics of reading and singing sacred (Church) music for young and old. No music background is required for the class or to join our vocal choir – we are here to help you learn and feel comfortable with church music. Singing is good for your heart, mind, and body and good for the Body of Christ. So, with Easter only a few months away, consider this plea for your voices to join our vocal choir. Practices will start later in February.

GROW Night Topic
February 13, 2019
6:30-7:30pm
“Advanced Care Planning”
by Marshfield Medical Center
Gain important information regarding making your future
health care decisions. Communicate them to your family
as an “Advanced Directive.”
GROW Activity Night purpose is to provide:
Fellowship Opportunity for relationship growth in our faith family.
Educational/Recreational Opportunity for personal growth.
Out Reach Opportunity for sharing with our community.
What we learned from Marshfield Police during
GROW Night in November 2018:
The Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force actively responds to
cyber enticement and child pornography complaints. The Marshfield Police
Department has investigated cases in our area. Predators online are intentional
about the young people they are preying on. They misrepresent themselves as a
“friend” in order to gain trust. Often times, young people are in over their heads
and afraid to report to their parents the trouble they have gotten themselves into.
http://www.netsmartz.org From cyberbullying to social media and sexting,
NetSmartz has what you need to know about staying
safer online. Tip sheets for parents and educators
provide a how-to in everything from smartphone
safety to protecting kids while on social media. Our
other tip sheets are written specifically for tweens and
teens dealing with topics ranging from online gaming
to tips to prevent sexting.
