Another One Bites the Dust

I went to put on my Platinum MOP Ocean Ghost III today, and an end of the pin (that looks

like a rivet or nail head) holding the flip-lock clasp FELL off. With my Platinum 5 Year

Warranty I can send it for repair for $28, wait several months, hope it really gets fixed, hope it's covered by the warranty, and of course, pay shipping to them. I wonder if they

could just send me or sell me a relacement clasp? I could put it on by replacing the whole

safety clasp. Anyone have any experience with just getting the part you need instead of

shipping the watch off?

Before ordering parts or sending the watch back, I would first find a local watch repair

person at a jewlrey shop and see if it can be repaired. Perhaps the piece can be soldered

back or its just a new pin or something that can be replaced. I have ordered parts from

Invicta on three occassions. The first time I got what I requested. The other two times the

parts I ordered never arrived, instead I think I got someone else's order and returned the items never to get a refund. I wont do it again.

I would definitely try the local jewelers first Brian. Whether you send it in for warranty service or try ordering the part, you are in for a long wait, lot's of aggravation and a bad

taste in your mouth. Good luck and I hope it works out well for you.

I've ordered parts three time from them and has to wait atleast 3 monthes on each but I

recieved them, they were what I ordered.

That pin with the cap on the end just taps into place. It's held in by friction. Most jewelers will have it on hand and probably replace it for free.....or for very little. No reason to return

it to Invicta.

Agree, and it would not be covered by the warranty anyway, just the movement.

Don't send it in. None of the bracelet parts are covered under Invicta's warranty. Go see

your local jeweler instead.

I agree with others that say take it to a good watch guy. I believe that part is just a rivet

and any good jeweler should be able to fix it for less than the shipping charge back to

Invicta (which probably wouldn't do any good anyway since bracelets are not covered under

warranty). __________________

Just to clarify, that pin that broke is a two piece pin. There is a long hollow part, and then a shorter piece with a cap on the end that taps into the hollow part. On standard size

bracelets, that's a very common part that's used by many, many watch manufacturers and

your jeweler should have it. The problem will be when you get into very wide bracelets. I

couldn't find a jeweler that had one to fit my Venom and had to order it from Invicta. It took about 4 weeks to get them, but be sure to order 3 so you have backups just incase. THEY

DID NOT CHARGE FOR THE PART.

I cobbed mine

The same thing happened to my Pro Diver. The rivet on the clasp broke. Luckily the watch didn't hit the floor. My jeweler said he couldn't fix it, so I found a brass nail, cut it to length,

filed a little bit, peened over the opposite end, and viola - a new rivet. Still working after 2

years!!!!

I had the same thing happen on my offshore classic. I took the clasp off and sent it to invicta

for repair. They lost the clasp and I ended up having to send in the watch anyway. They

replaced the bracelet. But I had only had the watch for 2 weeks.
