Another Brilliant Burns Night!

BPGC’s Annual Dinner, renowned to be the hottest night of the year, lived up to its reputation yet again! With 126 present, the successful evening started with bag pipes and drinks before guests were welcomed down the red carpet into the beautifully decorated Clifton Suite at the Holiday Inn, Brighouse.

The top table guests were welcomed before all joining in for the traditional Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ sing along. Mr Captain (Phil Smith) and his gang surprised everyone with their rendition of a Bay City Rollers classic, with musical instruments in hand, to get the party started.

The Holiday Inn Chef and his team outdid themselves this year with the plentiful, delicious food. All that was required after the bountiful feast was the opportunity to burn off some of the indulgence. This was provided by the fabulous Psychoslinky’s band.

The generosity of the guests superseded all expectations with a record amount raised through the raffle and auction. A massive thank you to all those who bought tickets and especially to those who generously donated prizes, which resulted in a spectacular prize table, bursting with brilliant prizes.

A good time was had by all with the dancefloor bursting at the seams. Alas, all good things must eventually come to an end, unfortunately some people didn’t get that memo. As the sensible ones took to their carriages there were a gaggle of hard-core guests who enjoyed a nightcap (or two) in the hotel bar, before retiring to their bedrooms in the early hours of the morning.

As a club we can take great satisfaction from the success of the night. The letters of praise and thank you cards received from honoured guests, together with numerous compliments from other attendees, cemented our belief that the BPGC Burns Night Annual Dinner was one of our best to date. We are already working on the challenge to make sure next year’s event matches the success of 2017.
