St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church is proud to announce that they

will be hosting a holiday concert led by Artistic Director, Georg

Stangelberger and his prestigious Phoenix Boys Choir on December 15.

Stangelberger, formerly served as Deputy Artistic Director for the

esteemed Vienna Boys Choir in Austria. He has directed The Phoenix Boys

Tour Choir across the country and worldwide including major venues in

Europe, and historical cathedrals around the world where the Choir has

earned the name of Cultural Ambassadors to the European Union. Phoenix Boys Choir has won two Grammy Awards, and was recently

chosen to record their rendition of “Somewhere over the Rainbow” for the

75th Anniversary soundtrack of The Wizard of Oz. They have performed in

Carnegie Hall, appeared on the Tutenstein float in the Macy's

Thanksgiving Day Parade, and have sung for four Presidents.

Locally, the Choir has performed with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona

Opera, Phoenix Chorale, Orpheus Chorus, and has sung the National

Anthem for the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes and the Arizona Cardinals. In

addition they toured with Columbia Artists Management of "The Lord of the Rings In Concert: The

Fellowship of the Ring" singing alongside the Pacific Chorale and the Munich Symphony Orchestra. This December Phoenix Boys Choir brings to life some of the most favorite holiday songs of all time!

Artistic Director, Georg Stangelberger creates a holiday medley with songs you love while you celebrate

the season. Part of this musical holiday celebration includes Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata 191, a

celebratory composition written for Christmas Day. Share the season with the whole family!

Tickets are on sale at the church office.

Thanks to all who supported our Fall Scholastic Book Fair, especially

all the Grandparents who joined us for our annual Grandparents Day

celebration. Book sales totaled over $5,614.34 which earns

Annunciation over $2500 in spending points from Scholastic to

purchase classroom furniture and library books.

We appreciate the help of all parents and students who volunteered to run the fair and most

especially thank our Chairpersons, Mrs. Charlotte Ralphs and Mrs. Mary Anderson.

Dad’s Club Event—Saturday, December 7

Get out your coats and mittens and join the Dad’s Club at the festivities of The Desert

Foothills Christmas Pageant. This event was started by the local 4-H Club in Cave Creek

in 1952, as a re-enactment of the Christmas story showcasing the 4-H Club members’

animals. The tradition continues on December 7 and 8, 7:00 p.m.

at Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area in Cave Creek. Area

residents perform in the choir and in pantomime. There is a live,

occasionally stubborn, donkey for Mary, and the Three Kings

travel on horseback. A majestic-voiced narrator presides over the

Christmas story with beautiful musical accompaniment provided

by the Pageant choir. Locals enact the roles of Mary, Joseph,

infant Jesus, angel, townspeople, shepherds, and Kings.

GREAT HOMEMADE GIFT IDEA BEST HOT CHOCOLATE MIX EVER!

The secret ingredient in this mix is the mini chocolate chips, which melt when combined with the boiling water and

give the cocoa an extra-rich flavor. The recipe makes enough for four gift-size portions, each of which can be

measured into a small plastic bag and tucked into a cup or mug filled with mini marshmallows, candy stick stirrers,

and a spoon. Wrap each filled gift cup in cellophane and don't forget to include a tag with the following instructions:

"Spoon 3 or 4 generous tablespoons of cocoa mix into your cup

(depending on the size), add boiling water, and stir well."

What you'll need:

2 cups nonfat dry milk powder

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

1/2 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips 1/8 teaspoon salt

How to make it

Measure all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and whisk them

until they are evenly blended.

Store the mix in a tightly covered container at room temperature until you're ready to package it.

Makes about 4 cups of mix.

The Angels Appear to the Shepherds And behold, an Angel of the Lord stood near

them, and the brightness of God shone around

them, and they were struck with a great fear.

And the Angel said to them; “Do not be afraid.

For, behold, I proclaim to you a great joy,

which will be for all the people.

For today a Saviour has been born for you in

the city of David: he is Christ the Lord.

And this will be a sign for you: you will find

the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and

lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the Angel a

multitude of the celestial army, praising God

and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will.”

(Luke 2:9-12, NLT)
