ALL INDIA CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY FEDERATION- AICUF

PATRICIAN COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE – UNIT

2017-2018

AICUF-All India Catholic University Federation is a movement of university students

with a vision for a new and just society. Progressing in a history of constant re-discovery

and re-creation. AICUF ever tries to link itself to the emerging needs and realities of the

university, the church and the wider society. AICUF is affiliated to PAX ROMANA-

International Movement of catholic students.

The All India Catholic University Federation is a movement of university students and is

often indicated by the acronym, AICUF. In 1924, this movement was started in

St.Joseph's College, Trichirappalli by Rev Fr Carty SJ. Later it spread its wings all over

India and now it operates in 14 states of India. In TamilNadu it functions in more than

50 colleges.

AICUF is the Student’s movement. It spread awareness on social issues. AICUF

cultivates leadership quality. AICUF encourages religious harmony and equality among

the student. AICUF fight for the rights of Dalit, Tribal, Refugee and Women.

To enable students to develop a critical awareness and analysis of the Indian and world

situation, to cultivate a deep and genuine concern for the oppressed and marginalized and

to effectively commit themselves to the task of building a new and just society.

To help students evolve spirituality that has humanization as its core, through

involvement and reflection

To motivate students to become involved in studies, research and activities within the

university.

To enable Christian students to play a prophetic role in their communities through a

critical understanding of their faith, drawing inspiration from the Gospels, the Eucharist

and their prayer life.

AICUF 2017- 2018 Motto is “FROM FEAR TO FACE”. In the academic year 2017-

2018 our AICUF unit had enrolled 90 members. Aicuf unit prepared a Data base of

Catholic Students in our college.

Our College is celebrating Mass on first Friday of every month. AICUF members are

extending their support in choir as well as altar decoration.

AICUF STATE COUNCIL MEETING

AICUF has organized State council for three days from 29\7\2017 to 31\07\2017 at

AICUF state secretariat, Trichy. AICUF members , G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS)

Karthikeyan III BBA, Naveen KumarIII BBA, Suvin III BBA, S.Kaja afrudin III BBA,

Prabhu III B.SC (Maths), William Arun kumar III B.SC (Maths) ,Gracy Auxilia peter III

B.SC (Maths) R.Berlin, III B.SC (Maths ) participated and Our College AICUF

President G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS) has been elected as a National Team

Member.

BIHAR FLOOD RELEIF CAMP

Bihar state was highly affected due to flood. AICUF National team asked the AICUF

units to contribute generously flood relief materials to people of Bihar. Our college

AICUF unit Organized a Bihar Flood relief Camp from 22-08-2017 to 24-08-2017 in

our college. AICUF Students collected Materials from our College Students.

Management, Principal, Faculty, support staff and students contributed voluntarily and

generously to the Bihar flood victims. Our aicuf president G.Akaash Bharghav II

B.SC(CS), S.Kaja afrudin III BBA and R.Berlin, III B.SC (Maths) Treasurer went to

Andhra Pradesh to collect relief materials from the known source. Finally a truck full of

relief materials was sent to flood victims of Bihar

AICUF NATIONAL CONVENTION

National convention at National Secretariat, Chennai was Organized by AICUF on 13-

08-2017 to 15-08-2017. Our College AICUF President G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS)

participated in that meeting.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMME

AICUF Organized Leadership Trainning Programme at Immaculate college, viriyur from

29-09-2017 to 01-10-2017. Our College students G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS),

S.Kaja afrudin III BBA, Spurgion Samuel I B.A (English) Participated in that meeting.

STATE YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING

Youth commission meeting was held in Dindukkal was organized by AICUF on

13\10\2017. Our College AICUF President G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS) participated

in that meeting

AICUF NATIONAL DALIT COMMISSION MEETING

AICUF Organized National Dalit commission at National Secretariat, Chennai from

16\11\2017 to 19\11\2017. Our College AICUF President G.Akaash Bharghav II

B.SC(CS) participated in that meeting.

CARE AND SHARE PROGRAMME – NEW BANNER RELEASE

Christmas Celebration in the theme of “CARE AND SHARE” was organized by our

college on 22\12\2017. AICUF introduced the new banner with vision mission and its

declaration. our unit president G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS) has Explained the role of

Students in the nation building process. AICUF unit presented Christmas gift boxes full

of groceries to 22 support staffs.

MAGIS 2018 – AICUF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME

MAGIS 2018 a mega event with the theme of “YOUTH AMBASSADORS FOR PEACE

AND RECONCILIATION” was organized by National AICUF in Loyola college Chennai on

from 12\01\2018 to 15\01\2018. More than 950 student from India and abroad participated in the

programme. Our unit President and National Team member G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS)

played a lead role in organizing this mega event. More over his effort was appreciated by

Fr.Paulraj State Advisor AICUF. Our College students S.Kaja afrudin III BBA, Spurgion Samuel

I B.A (English), R.K Naresh I B.SC (VC) has took a role as Volunteer and made the program

Successful.

NATIONAL SEMINAR

Sathya Nilayam Research Institute for Philosophy and Sanskrit organized a National seminar on

February 12, 2018 in the topic of Hermeneutics of Faith. His Grace Most Rev.Dr.George

Antonysamy Arch Bishop of Madras-Mylapore, Joe Balasamy.H Convener of the seminar&

Research Scholar, SNRI, Rev Dr Albert Muthumalai S.J. , Rector, Sacred Heart College,

Sathya Nilayam, Prof Dr Lawrence S.Fernandes S.J. , Director, Sathya Nilayam Research

Institute.

NATIONAL WOMEN’S COMMISSION PROGRAMME

AICUF National Women’s commission organized a programme on “Gender equality

in India” at AICUF Ashram, Bhopal from 12\02\2018 to 15\02\2018. Our College

AICUF President G.Akaash Bharghav II B.SC(CS) was the part of Organizer in that

meeting.

AICUF Organized a National Seminar on “Gender Equality, A Human Issue” to

celebrate women’s Day at National Secretariat, Chennai on 10\03\2018. Our College

AICUF Women Students participated in that meeting.
