Dear Club Supporters & Friends,
As we reflect on 2016, our 44th year as an organization, we are filled with pride, gratitude, and hope. We are proud of this year’s many accomplishments, grateful forthose who made them possible, and hopeful as we look to the future.
Since our creation in 1972, Watertown Boys & Girls Club has served as a safe haven forthe community’s youth, providing structure, guidance, and support to all who walkthrough our door. Our goal is to supply every Club member with the tools they need tobuild a Great Future. By focusing on our three areas of impact: Healthy Living, AcademicSuccess, and Character Development & Leadership, we provide members with a well-rounded experience that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
In 2016, we served more youth than ever before! Our programs reached over 2,000youth this year, including 922 registered members. It is our hope that the Club will continue to grow with each passing year, serving more youth, more often. However, wecannot do it alone! As the Club reaches new heights, the support of our community becomes increasingly vital. We are incredibly grateful for the hundreds of individuals,corporations, and foundations who have joined us in our mission to creates Great Futures for the youth of Watertown.

The Club celebratedthe installation of anew gym floor with a
Staff vs. Kids dodgeballgame!
We celebrated the end of the schoolyear with our annual End of SeasonBBQ & Field Day. Activities includedrelay races, water balloon tosses,
and a live band!
2016 Highlights
In collaboration with Pavoh,Inc., we hosted a “World
Drumming Music Festival”where a skilled instructor
taught members the basics ofworld drumming!
A geography bee, a teen futsaltournament, and an openhouse (just to name a few)made for a great NationalBoys & Girls Club Week!
The Wavemakers Swim Teamraised $3,500 through theirKids Night Out fundraiser in
February, which was attendedby nearly 200 kids.
The Wavemakers swim team traveledto St. Petersburg, FL to attend the
National Boys & Girls Club Championships, where they placed
3rd overall!
The Boston Renegades, aprofessional women’s
football team, visited theClub for a Q&A sessionand a pick-up game. Agroup of our memberswere then invited to attend a Renegadesgame the next day!
In an effort to engage a new generation of Club supporters,we hosted our first ever “ClubBlue” event. We invited young
professional community members to join us for food
and drinks at the popular newrestaurant, Branch Line, to
learn more about our missionand how they can get involved.
Watertown Club member, TommyB., was chosen by a panel of
judges to represent our Club at theMassachusetts Boys & Girls ClubYouth of the Year Competition at
Westfield State University.
More than 50 kids attendedthe Club’s “Back to School Celebration” in September!
The event included dodgeball,arts & crafts projects, freeswim, and a pizza party.
Volunteers from WatertownSavings Bank and the
Watertown Police Department,among others, teamed up with
the Club staff to make thenight a success!
In July and August, we ran twosummer camp programs - Summer Swim Camp and Summer Adventure: CampHale. 268 kids were servedthrough these programs!
We teamed up with the Watertown Police Department to host two“Cops and Kids Gym and Swim”
events this summer. Youth membersgot to spend some time with theirlocal police officers playing dodge-ball, swimming, and eating pizza.
Thanks to employees at Aetna,25 Club members startedschool with brand-new
backpacks filled with schoolsupplies! These membersstarted the year with the
necessary tools to learn andgrow academically.
Hundreds of kids and parents attended our annual Halloween Party.Torch Club members ran games andset up a very spooky haunted house!Volunteers from Ernst & Young were
there to support the event!
