Reflecting on 2016 is both a source of pride and a call

to action for 2017. Like many nonprofit organizations, our

success is the success of our volunteers—their time,

their talent and their treasure. Docents offer their time;

our librarian contributes her talent; donors give dollars. If

you are a donor reading this, you may think, “I never

thought of myself as a volunteer of the museum.”

We know donors have choices on where to give their

dollars, and we are happy to include—in this our first

annual report—a list of our donors, our largest corps of

Events and community outreach

The Herald, our quarterly newsletter, is emailed to

more than 1,000 donors and distributed locally to

selected sites.

A monthly discussion group, A World in Trouble, ran

January through April.

The museum sponsored Yom Ha’shoah, Holocaust

Remembrance Day, in Congregation B ’nai Israel.

Events included the play Suicide Run by Raye M.

Cohen, candle lighting by survivors, and meaningful

readings (also see New Exhibits). In addition, we partic-

ipated in Kirtland Air Force Base’s annual remem-

brance.

We hosted Educators’ Workshop on Human Rights,

May 7th, in partnership with the Memorial Library and

Olga Lengyel Institute.

Museum acted as fiscal agent for Holocaust Memorial

Library in New York, sponsor of the Summer Institute:

Teaching the Holocaust for Social Justice, five days

in June when educators are trained in Holocaust

presentation methods. It is conducted and supported by

board members Leslie Lawner and Susan Quintana.

Interviewed June 24th by local news; http://

krqe.com/2016/06/24/legendary-new-mexico-holocaust-

intolerance-museum/.

Recipient of Lowe’s Heroes Project. Store #1636

donated time, labor, and materials for museum renova-

tions in September.

To Life! successful fundraiser September 18th in

Congregation B’nai Israel raised $14,800 for the

museum and $10,000 for the Traveling Trunks.

We had the opportunity to tell the museum story with a

booth at Hanukkah Fest, December 11th.
