Reflecting on 2016 is both a source of pride and a call
to action for 2017. Like many nonprofit organizations, our
success is the success of our volunteers—their time,
their talent and their treasure. Docents offer their time;
our librarian contributes her talent; donors give dollars. If
you are a donor reading this, you may think, “I never
thought of myself as a volunteer of the museum.”
We know donors have choices on where to give their
dollars, and we are happy to include—in this our first
annual report—a list of our donors, our largest corps of

Education
Field Trips
During 2016, the museum welcomed a wide range of groups, from middle
and high school students, to incarcerated adults working on GEDs, to Road
Scholars. Half (almost 2,000) of our visitors were students on field trips with
their teachers and chaperones.
volunteers. They have made 2016 a success!
Source of pride? Please look at our recap of exhibits,
visitors, educational programs and events.
Our financials are solid and are an important part of
our plans. We are working to make 2017 another year of
success. Please join us.

A monthly discussion group, A World in Trouble, ran
January through April.
The museum sponsored Yom Ha’shoah, Holocaust
Remembrance Day, in Congregation B ’nai Israel.
Events included the play Suicide Run by Raye M.
Cohen, candle lighting by survivors, and meaningful
readings (also see New Exhibits). In addition, we partic-
ipated in Kirtland Air Force Base’s annual remem-
brance.
We hosted Educators’ Workshop on Human Rights,
May 7th, in partnership with the Memorial Library and
Olga Lengyel Institute.
Museum acted as fiscal agent for Holocaust Memorial
Library in New York, sponsor of the Summer Institute:
Teaching the Holocaust for Social Justice, five days
in June when educators are trained in Holocaust
presentation methods. It is conducted and supported by
board members Leslie Lawner and Susan Quintana.
