Membership changes in 2013/14
2013/14 saw a slight drop in regard to membership numbers. It was sad to see Diana Bracegirdle, Ross Morey, Brendan Donahoo and Cas Porter leave us but the induction of Danny Warner on the last meeting of the year will go some way to balancing the ledger. We look forward to Danny’s growing involvement in the Club over 2014/15 year. As of 30th June 2013 the Rotary Club of Port Fairy therefore has 23 registered members.
It is also important to note that one of members, Colwyn Martin, celebrated his 100th birthday on 30th June 2014. Col is still a very active member of the Rotary Club of Port Fairy and all members are proud that he has reached this very important milestone.

Report from the President
This past year has been one that I feel I have been privileged to be part of. To be President of the Rotary Club of Port Fairy has been a huge learning curve for me and coming to the end, relatively unscathed and the Club still strong is a relief. We as a club should be proud of the things we have achieved and areas of support we have given.
I am not going to list all the things we have done, but our support for Interplast and the wonderful evening with their Mr Ian Holten was a highlight. The efforts on our Open Garden Day and of the six owners, who opened their beautiful gardens, resulted in our contribution of $4000 being donated to Interplast. It was very gratifying to be able to give so much to Interplast after learning about the work it does all over the world.
Peter’s Project has been in the forefront of many fundraising efforts throughout the district. Our film night allowed us to present $5,769 to the Peter’s Project Coordinator, Vicki Jellie, which was a great result for all concerned. The Progressive Dinner which was held recently raised $1000 for our support to Muscular Dystrophy Australia. This was a great night socially and many thanks to those who contributed either with the use of their homes or those who helped with food.
We have supported during the year Shelter Box, Alternative to Schoolies, Children’s First, the Nepal School project organised by Portland Bay Rotary Club, Port Fairy Surf Club, Port Fairy Citizens Band and many other causes. We have had several very successful fundraising days with the opening of the Port Fairy Lighthouse and many thanks go to Adrian Crosier for his part in booking the dates and to all those who helped out in all weathers manning the door. The Rotary Club of Ballarat South Car Raffle is always a good fundraiser, thank you to Geoff Coxall for his coordination of the raffle. My appreciation goes to all of the Rotarians who assisted in raffle ticket selling both for the car raffle and for Wilma Preston’s very generous donation of a painting raffle over January.
We were very happy to have James Mclean represent our club at the RYLA camp, which James really enjoyed. We also have a student seeking a place at National Youth Science Forum. During May the Consolidated School hosted the Rotary Club at a dinner held at the school. It was great to see and learn the wonderful projects happening there.
The Rotary Club’s community service continues with Meals-On-Wheels, Bowelscan, working bees for Moyne Shire, Folk Festival, Show Day, and the New Year’s Eve program.
To Margaret Whitehead a very big thank you for her terrific support and advice, she helped make me look good. To Harry Bracegirdle a big thank you for your help and advice, you do a fantastic job with Club Runner and it is much appreciated by the club. Thanks to Adrian for his work as Treasurer, always reliable and to Anthony Brady from the Moyne Gazette for his continued coverage of Rotary activities.
I would like to say thank you to Marg Broers and Barb Eldridge you have both inspired me. This is a can do club with a very friendly attitude which we show towards each other. With this in mind, plus the help and support given to me by the Board, I can honestly say I have enjoyed the past year.
To John Clue and the incoming Board I wish you every success. I know John has some fresh new ideas and the energy to carry them out. Thank You.
