ANNUAL REPORT 2013 3
Message from the
President
The first year of the St. Luke’s Medical Center Foundation has been purposeful on many counts.
We evaluate the past year with measured pride because of the things we have accomplished.Foremost of these is the establishment of its legal personality with our registration to theSecurities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
We have also laid down the groundwork for our application to other government and non-government regulatory bodies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) and the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) that would show the premiumwe give to transparency and efficiency in handling the donations our donors and sponsorshave entrusted to us.
In the last quarter of 2013, we started funding the Medical Social Service Program that enablesindigent patients access to diagnostic, therapeutic, and hospitalization services at St. Luke’sMedical Center-Quezon City. We have also supported two Medical Missions that benefitedsome 3,000 survivors of Typhoon Yolanda at Bantayan Island, Cebu and Ormoc, Leyte.
In this Annual Report, we inform our public the accomplishments we had for the year. Modestas they may seem, we know that these achievements have enabled us to set up a stablefoundation for the future.
We would like to thank everyone for the support you have given us.

Milestones
While SLMCFI was registered with the SEC in August 2012, it only became fully operationalwhen it hired a Foundation Manager on 1 May 2013. Since then, it has steadily trodden thepath towards full operationalization: from getting the necessary government licenses to legallyoperate to laying down the procedures for its operations and actually running its programs.
Government Registration
SLMCFI has registered with the necessary government agencies such as the SEC, the Bureauof Internal Revenue (BIR), and the local government. Registration with these governmentagencies assures the public that the Foundation has the legal mandate to operate. This willalso ensure that utmost transparency is practiced in handling funds from its donors.
The Foundation is working to register with the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) and get accreditation from the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) in2014. These are essential regulatory bodies to guarantee that SLMCFI adheres to transparency, accountability, and acceptable service delivery standards. The PCNC accreditation will alsoenable the Foundation to issue Donation Certificates that will allow donors to claim taxincentives.
Fundraising
The Foundation has received a total of PhP5,264,444.77 from its supporters. A bulk of thedonations came from individual and corporations. Of the total amount, 73.5 per cent of thedonations are undesignated funds (they have not been assigned by donors for a particularprogram), while only 26 per cent had been designated by donors for a specific purpose. Inthis case, most had been designated for the Yolanda Medical Mission.
