Director’s Message

The Public Association "Demos" marked 12

years of activity in 2013. It was a year of work under pressure, a test of resistance and devotion for our team. With God's help and dedication of

my colleagues, who see their vocation in service to their neighbors, we finished the year with results that are and will be the source of the positive

outcomes in people’s lives. Our "Demos" multidisciplinary team - social

workers, lawyers, psychologists, trainers, advisers, and economist- gave us the opportunity to respond to a wide spectrum of needs of

vulnerable groups we work with. And in most cases, our customers were able to approach their

real goals we pointed out together through persistence, hard work, and mutual desire to make a change for the better.

In 2013 we accomplished 8 programs both from external donor funds, as well as

the self-financing. It was not easy to resist to a high volume of work, but by rational distribution of responsibilities, we have achieved the objectives.

The awarded Certificate of Public Utility is one of our performances obtained

this year. We received from Orange Moldova Foundation funding contribution to help

vulnerable women to become financially independent. It is a manifestation of social responsibility that is cultivated in Republic of Moldova, although at a slow tempo, but meaning a tendency towards maturity of business community.

Doing a retrospective over 2013 I can say that we felt ourselves in the skin of our beneficiaries, vulnerable due to political instability at local and national levels. We are concerned about dependency on grants, the unwillingness of the authorities

to sustain financially our social services (they say: No man is a prophet in his own land. . .) But we will continue to seek and to ensure the continuity of social and

educational services, from the mix of funding: grants, donations, income from economic activities. We overcome all the difficulties through patience and mutual support, through awareness that our work is necessary to people and with Lord’s

help. We measure our satisfaction through the satisfaction of the people, whom we

help to pass more easily through the school of life and to become more prosperous. We express our special gratitude to those who believe in us, donors, partners, together with whom we make really big things.

Liliana Samcov, Executive Director PA „Demos”
