2012-2013 HIGHlIGHtSNew Website Launched in 2013this year we unveiled our new website, with a fresh, new design, updated content and Web 2.0 features. navigational changes were strategically arranged based on the pages most visited by our customers as well as direct feedback from customers on their needs. our website has on average 40,000 unique visits each month, and serves as a one-stop shop for customers as well as a resource site for jobs, services and educational news.

Technology Foundation Grants Bring First-Class Technology to Schoolsthe eSc region 12 technology foundation, founded in fall of 2012, awarded seven school districts with $60,000 in grant funds to support educational technology programs this year. the grants were primarily funded by revenue from technology services provided by the service center to area districts and charter schools. the foundation came about as part of eSc region 12’s vision for how we serve students and educators, and the seven schools awarded represent 1,783 students and 125 staff members.

Region 12 Counselor of the Year Awarded & Area Counselors Honoredthe eSc region 12 counselor of the Year award was established this year to recognize a school counselor whose efforts made an extraordinary difference in the lives of children. the award was presented at a luncheon to honor the hard work of central texas school counselors. counselor Susan Holmes of Belton ISD was the recipient of the 2013 counselor of the Year award. Various outstanding counselors were recognized for their dedication to students through school counseling. connally and West ISD counselors were recognized for their collaborative effort to make a smooth transition for the West middle School and High School students as they integrated into connally ISD after the West ISD campuses were damaged in the tragic explosion on April 17, 2013.

Instructional Coaching Service Takes OffGeneral education Services, in collaboration with Special education Services, greatly expanded its Instructional coaching service this past year. nearly forty regional campuses participated in the service, which delivered sustainable, relevant and customized professional development and support for teachers, as well as direct services to students. the Instructional coaching program began in 2011 as a result of the need for embedded, on-site training for teachers who could not leave the classroom, but were in need of targeted assistance. It is rapidly becoming a favorite alternative for administrators in region 12, and has been enthusiastically received by the teachers. “my coach was phenomenal!” stated a teacher on her evaluation of the service. “I am so thankful for everything she has taught me ... If I ever need anything else in my teaching career, I know she will be more than willing to help me.”
