COTH Food Bank Annual Food Drive

Saturday mornings, November 2nd and 9th November 2: Delivery of flyers in the neighbourhood: about 1-2 hours November 9: Collection of food and/or cash donations and sorting at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church - 2-3 hours.

An average of 1,000 people a month depend on the COTH Food Bank, and it is is only made possible by the volunteer efforts and generous donations of the churches involved.

Any help you can give on either of those days would be greatly appreciated.

Please call 416-920-5211 (ext. 22) or email: [email protected] Large print Orders of Service are available from the Sidespeople. Free Sunday parking is available on Sunday mornings (up to 1:30 pm) at the public parking lot, just across from the church on Heath Street. Stamp your parking ticket using the church address stamp found on the table at the Bell tower door. After Church go to the customer service office with your validated ticket where you will be given an exit ticket. Please park only on the lower levels.

Please do not leave valuables unattended.

Harvest Thanksgiving

October 13, 2013 PromiseLand (church school for children, kindergarten to grade

9) meets in the Chapel of St. Nicholas on the lower level during

the 10 am service.

The Nest (certified childcare for infants to age 4) is open

during the Sunday 10 am service on the third floor.

Sunday Children’s Programs

The Nest is our certified childcare program designed for children under the age of 4. The Nest opens prior to the 10:00 service in our nursery space on the third floor. Tuta Shurdha is our certified Nest coordinator, and she is accompanied by a volunteer parent or teen assistant. If you would like to use this service, please ask one of the sidespeople to direct you to the Nest.

PromiseLand is our church school for children from the ages of 5 to 12. The children meet in the church at 10:00 am, and then move to the St. Nicholas Chapel during the opening hymn. Natalie Kemp is our Director of Children’s Education, and would be happy to tell you more about Promiseland.

YAL – Young Anglican Leaders meet regularly for learning, fellowship, food and fun. Please speak with Natalie Kemp for more details about YAL.

Re-Imagining Church: Shaped for Mission – this 5-week course is being offered in Elliott Hall on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm beginning this week. The course will be taught by our Area Bishop, the Right Reverend Patrick Yu, and the Reverend Susan Bell, the Archbishop’s Officer for Mission. The content of the course complements the work that we have been doing as a parish to re-imagine our church in a changing culture. Please consider attending these 5 evenings. Please sign up in the atrium if you wish to register.

Remembrance Concert – Friday, November 8th 7:30pm

Featuring: The CCDP soloists and choir, the Young Voices Toronto Children’s Choir, duo pianists Popov and Vona, and guest violinist Luri Lee.

Parish Forum – the next meeting of the Parish Forum will take place on Sunday, November 3rd at 11:30 am in Elliott Hall. A printed message from the Management Team is available at the Yonge St. doors and the Bell Tower. It contains information about the agenda for this meeting. Please plan to join us! Thank you to those who have contributed fruits and vegetables for the decoration of the church for our harvest festival today. After Thanksgiving Day, these items will be donated to the Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank. Joy In a Paintbox” - paintings by Sally Martin. We invite you to view this Exhibition until October 20 in the Arthur Smith Room. The artist is available to answer any questions about her work.

Christian Meditation will resume on Monday, Oct. 21st at 11:15 am in the Arthur Smith Room. No experience required!

Challenging Christianity meets on Friday, October 18, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm, in the Arthur Smith Room, to continue discussing "Your God is too small." The Diocesan Children’s Ministry Conference will take place on Saturday November 3rd from 9:30 am– 4:30 pm at St. John’s York Mills. Come and hear interesting speakers at a variety of workshops, and network with other children and youth educators in the Diocese. The cost of $25 for the day includes lunch. “In Heaven it is always autumn” - John Donne Join us for our parish Quiet Day for prayer and reflection at St. John’s Convent on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. The cost is $40 including lunch and snacks. Please see the Reverend Julie Meakin for details or for any concerns about the cost. Registration will be capped at 20 participants.
