Annie  Leibovitz    Annie  Leibovitz  is  currently  a  photographer  for  Vanity  Fair  living  on  the  USA.  In  her  early  career  she  work  for  Rolling  Stones  magazine  as  a  photographer.  Annie’s  role  would  oCen  include  traveling  around  with  the  bands  and  photographing  their  lives.  Currently  work  for  Vanity  Fair  Annie  has  photographed  celebriEes  oCen  on  set  of  a  related  film  or  TV  program.  A  more  recent  example  would  be  Game  of  Thrones  were  Anna  has  photographed  the  cast  and  crew.    

The  photographic  work  to  the  right  and  on  the  next  slide  consists  of  fairy  tail  themed  photos  from  well  know  Disney  films.      The  first  photo  is  from  the  film  Aladdin.  In  the  photo  Aladdin  and  princes  Jasmine  are  sat  on  a  flying  carpet  traveling  over  a  desert.  Judging  from  the  sky  it  could  be  sunrise  or  sunset,  but  if  you  consider  the  fact  they  are  shown  moving  away  from  the  sun  it  could  mean  they  are  going  from  one  day  to  another.      Under  the  photo  of  Aladdin  we  have  Beauty  and  the  Beast.  The  seOng  seems  to  be  a  lavishly  decorate  stately  home  consistent  with  the  house  the  Beast  would  have  owned.  In  the  photo  are  also  the  main  characters  Bella  on  the  leC  and  the  Beast  who  is  on  the  right  being  depicted  with  a  lions  head  and  mane.    

To  the  leC  is  a  photo  based  off  of  the  Wizard  of  Oz  which  shows  a  flying  monkey  carrying  Dorothy  away.  In  shot  you  can  see  Dorothy  being  carried  by  one  monkey  and  another  in  the  background.  The  sky  is  dark  and  gloomy  which  could  suggest  a  storm.  Also  in  shot  in  the  boSom  leC  hand  corner  seems  to  be  part  of  a  mountain  or  rock  face.    I  believe  the  photo  is  made  up  of  4  parts  which  have  be  put  together  in  Photoshop.  The  Dorothy  and  the  flying  monkey  make  up  the  first  part  as  they  are  the  main  focus  of  the  photo.  The  sky,  rocks  and  second  flying  monkey  make  up  the  other  3  parts.  The  monkeys  and  Dorothy  would  have  mostly  likely  been  photographed  in  a  studio  which  the  sky  would  have  be  taken  on  locaEon  or  possibly  created  in  Photoshop.  The  rocks  in  the  corner  look  to  be  painted  or  created  though  computer  ediEng.      The  next  photo  depicts  Snow  White  in  a  forest  with  a  group  of  different  animals.  The  photo  shows  how  Snow  White  is  the  fairest  of  them  all  as  the  animal  interact  with  her  without  any  fear.  I  believe  that  most  of  the  animals  have  been  edited  into  the  photo  but  I  am  unsure  if  the  Snow  White  has  been  edited  into  the  forest.  The  form  of  the  dress  does  seem  to  match  the  forests  floor  which  suggest  it’s  a  locaEon  based  shoot.    

Jaime  Ibarra  Jaime  Ibarra  is  a  professional  portrait  and  art  photographer  from  the  USA.  He  is  also  know  for  his  editorial,  fashion,  and  commercial  and  adverEsing  work.  Along  with  being  a  photographer  he  is  also  a  musician.  Jaime  Ibarra  also  has  the  ability  to  hear  what  sounds  a  colour  would  make  is  it  was  a  sound.  This  is  due  to  his  Synaesthesia,  which  is  a  condiEon  that  causes  2  or  more  senses  to  combine.    From  going  through  the  more  creaEve  photos  by  Jaime  I  have  noEced  that  they  are  not  themed  around  any  fairy  tales.  That  being  said  they  can  sEll  be  interpreted  as  an  element  of  a  fairy  tale  or  mythological  story.    

The  top  photo  has  elements  reminiscent  of  American  Indians  with  the  feathers  in  the  models  hair.  This  is  further  supported  by  the  black  raven  or  crow  in  the  photo.  The  feel  the  photo  gives  is  someone  on  top  of  the  world  or  looking  over  it.  Taking  into  account  what's  in  shot  I  believe  the  photo  has  been  put  together  in  Photoshop.  The  background  seems  to  have  been  created  through  ediEng,  especially  since  it  looks  like  the  model  is  looking  out  from  between  two  cloud  layers.  The  model  and  the  crow/raven  have  been  edited  into  the  picture  as  well.  My  reasoning  for  this  is  the  shadows  are  too  soC  and  undefined  for  the  natural  light  that  is  to  be  expected  for  the  environment  shown.  

ConEnuing  on  with  the  second  photo  on  the  last  slide.  This  photo  could  be  linked  with  Asia  or  more  specifically  India.  My  reasoning  for  this  is  the  strong  and  vibrant  colours  used  in  the  image  along  with  the  design  of  the  models  clothing.  Once  again  this  photo  has  been  constructed  in  Photoshop  and  is  made  up  of  3  secEons.  The  first  being  the  background,  the  second  is  the  model  and  the  third  secEon  has  the  buSerfly's.      The  first  photo  on  this  slide  is  a  portrait  shot  of  what  appears  to  be  a  demon  with  horns  and  wings.  This  photo  is  in  black  and  white  with  a  sepia  coloured  Ent  added.  The  Ent  brings  out  a  rusEc  and  earthy  feel  to  the  photo.  In  comparison  to  the  2  previous  photos  this  one  does  not  seem  to  have  any  heavy  photo  manipulaEon  to  it.      The  last  photo  by  Jaime  is  of  a  knight  in  black  amour.  Like  the  one  before  this  is  a  portrait  shot  with  the  knight  looking  straight  at  the  camera.  This  photo  also  shows  no  signs  of  heavy  photo  manipulaEon.  The  lighEng  seems  to  be  natural  and  possibly  enhanced  on  the  right  side  using  a  reflector.  Another  difference  between  this  photo  and  the  first  2  is  that  the  background  appears  to  be  real  and  not  created  through  Photoshop.  

Katerina  Plotnikova  Katerina  Plotnikova  has  recently  been  brought  to  peoples  aSenEon  with  her  work  using  live  animals  which  include  a  bear,  fox  and  many  others.      The  photos  on  these  slides  are  a  small  sample  of  her  work.  From  looking  through  her  work  I  have  noEced  that  the  photos  don’t  link  directly  with  any  fairy  tales.  One  thing  I  like  about  these  photos  in  comparison  to  the  others  is  the  fact  they  are  not  heavy  edited  in  terms  of  image  content.  The  model(s),  background  and  animals  are  all  real  and  all  in  the  same  shot.  This  element  helps  greatly  with  the  surrealism  of  the  photos.    

The  first  photo  shows  a  model  in  a  forest  feeding  what  looks  to  be  a  Stag  or  possibly  a  Reindeer.  In  the  background  you  can  see  the  forest  floor  liSered  with  leaves,  meaning  this  photo  was  taken  during  the  Autumn  months.  From  this  photo  I  get  the  feeling  of  someone  caring  for  the  creatures  in  the  forest.  This  can  also  be  said  for  the  second  photo  which  shows  another  model  hugging  a  deer  in  the  forest  at  a  different  Eme  of  year.  

Once  again  the  first  photo  shows  someone  with  a  caring  nature  towards  animals  as  she  carries  the  fox.  This  photo  has  a  portrait  element  to  it  but  with  the  fox  to  make  people  quesEon  what  is  going  on  in  the  photo.  The  background  is  out  of  focus  but  you  can  see  it’s  a  forest  locaEon  like  the  others.  The  models  pose  suggests  that  she  is  walking  with  the  fox  through  the  forest.  There  is  not  enough  informaEon  the  photo  to  determine  what  her  final  desEnaEon  is.    The  second  photo  move  away  from  the  caring  nature  shown  in  the  other  photos.  SEll  maintaining  the  same  seOng  but  a  different  season,  this  photo  shows  the  model  with  a  hooded  figure.  This  photo  has  a  more  colder  and  cauEous  feel  to  it  which  is  added  to  by  the  winter  background.  The  expression  the  models  seems  to  be  one  of  surprise  and  perhaps  fear.  While  the  hooded  figure  is  more  difficult  to  determine  due  to  the  cosmeEc  work  to  the  face.
