In this studio, we were asked to design the School of Architecture and Landscape architecture

on UBC Campus. In a world where the entirety of mankind’s massessed knowledge is avail-

able at our fingertips every single moment, the importance of productive social experience is

paramount in the learning and professional environment. Thus, the goal of this project is the

creation of a new learning experience where knowledge is accumulated via social experiences;

with one’s peers, with faculty, with staff, with professions, with students of other faculties and with

the public at large. It is attempted via the creation of a “promenade” that moves up throughout

the building; both serving as the primary circulation system while simultaneously serving as the

place of socializing via the presence of a series of public spaces of different types to allow theintermingling of occupants of all types.
