TENDER FOR PROCUREMENT OF 36” AND 20” CASING PIPES
SCC1 of 4
SPECIFICATIONS OF 36” AND 20” CASING PIPES
I) 36” OD Casing pipe with Connector (for Deep water)
New and unused ERW/SAW Steel pipes, 36” OD, API Range III with Pin and Box Thread Connectors of Type RL4-RB or D-90/MT.
i) Connectors should have easy stabbing, self-aligning & no cross threading.
ii) Connectors should be either RL4-RB or D-90/MT, which is fast make-up
(in less than one turn), low torque & visual indication of make-up.
iii) Connectors should have high-pressure sealing & fully field proven tested.
iv) Connectors casing pipes should be ideally suited for jetting and if
required should be re-usable.
v) Connectors casing pipes should be fitted with thread protectors at both ends.
vi) Connectors casing pipes should be inspected by X-Ray and
ultrasonically as per API-5L standards.
vii) Connectors casing pipes should be coated with rust preventive coating to withstand Marine transportation.
viii) Connectors should be complete with anti rotation features.
Quantity
Description of item Quantity (Mtrs) 36” OD, X 1.5” WT, 552.69 PPF, Grade X-52, OD pipe with connector
2,850 mtrs
Note:
1. Bidders should clearly indicate in their quote whether the pipes quoted are ERW (HFI/MFI) or SAW steel pipes. However, bidder can separately quote for ERW or SAW steel pipes.
2. ONGC reserves the right to purchase either ERW or SAW conductor
casings; whichever is technically and economically suitable.
3. Mother pipes are to be manufactured as per API-5L and welding of connectors is to be Girth Weld as per API-1104.

TENDER FOR PROCUREMENT OF 36” AND 20” CASING PIPES
SCC2 of 4
4. (i) Connector should preferably be with a square shoulder arrangement, so that it can be directly lifted with standard 36” casing elevator. (ii) In case the above arrangement is not available in connector, then alternatively, an elevator load ring has to be provided as per below specs:-
A) Load ring – outside diameter – 38”, rating minimum 150 ton. B) Bottom of load ring weld fillet – to be ground flush to the pipe body. C) Position of load ring – 1 foot below connector. D) Weld on the pipe body to be ground flush with pipe body for 2m below square shouldered connector or load ring for latching of the elevator.
(iii) Two lifting eyes of required capacities to be provided at each end for handling of pipe.
5. Load Ring & Pad-eyes drawing should be submitted along with the bids.
Bidder should also confirm that these pipes can be run through 49 ½ ” rotary.
6. Bidder should submit inspection certificate of casing pipes carried out by
third party inspection agency along with Mills inspection certificate at the time of shipment / dispatch.
7. Delivery tolerance allowed is plus (+) Nil, Minus (-) 15 Mtrs or 1%,
whichever is less for each item.
8. Delivery for 36” Casing pipe may be done in two lots of 1,500 mtrs and 1,350 mtrs respectively.

II) 20” OD 133 PPF Casing pipe with Connector
Item no. Description Quantity
1
New and unused Seamless/ERW/SAW Steel pipes, 20” OD X 0.625” WT, 133 PPF, X-56 Grade, Range-III, with New & unused weld-able Box and Pin Multistart Thread Connectors, suitable to be girth welded with ERW/SAW Steel pipe as per API-5L having following features:- i) Connectors should be of multistart threads
for fast make-up (in less than one turn), low torque & visual indication of make-up, complete with anti-rotation features.
ii) Connectors should have high pressure
sealing & fully field proven tested. Casing pipes should be coated with rust preventive coating to withstand marine transportation. Each pipe should have suitable thread protectors at both the ends preferably threaded type.
3,000 mtrs.
Pipes should be inspected and tested as under:- i) Mother pipes should be manufactured, inspected & tested as per
API-5L. ii) Ultrasonic inspection of pipes should be carried out as per API-5L.
iii) Weld on connectors are to be girth welded as per
API-RP 5C6 / API-1104. iv) Drift test of finished casing pipes should be carried out as per API-5CT.
v) The pipes should be supplied with double the number of joints, ‘O’ rings
as per the connector design. Note:
1. Bidders should clearly indicate in their quote whether the pipes quoted are with Seamless or ERW (HFI/MFI) or SAW steel pipes. However, bidder can quote separately for Seamless or ERW or SAW casing pipes.

2. ONGC reserves the right to purchase Seamless or ERW or SAW steel casing whichever is technically and economically suitable.
3. Mill tests certificate of mother pipes as per API standard should be
submitted alongwith shipment/ dispatch of the material. 4. The bidder quoting for 20” OD casing pipes of SAW design should ensure
that head height of longitudinal seam along the length of mother pipe and the weld height of connector should allow the smooth latch/ passes for 20” OD casing pipe elevator.
5. In case of Girth Weld-on connectors, a certificate from third party that
the welding is done as per API-1104 should be submitted.
6. Bidder should submit inspection certificate of casing pipes carried out by third party inspection agency along with Mills inspection certificate at the time of shipment/ dispatch.
7. Delivery tolerance allowed is plus (+) Nil, Minus (-) 15 Mtrs for each item
lot wise.
8. Casing pipes shall be purchased from same source/ manufacturer.
9. Bidders should clearly indicate in their quote features of connectors. The connectors should have high pressure sealing and they should be fully field proven, tested and re-usable.
