Small-sized class ANNE’S Language House is a small-sized school (Maximum 10 students, average 5 students) with a friendly and caring atmosphere which enables students to receive personal attention.

Student Goal Sheet and Monitoring Students fill out their own goal sheet on their first day to allow students to make and evaluate academic and personal goals. Our instructors and staff members assist students in achieving and obtaining their goals.

Qualified and Experienced Teachers

We believe the teachers are the key to successful learning. Teachers at ALH are highly qualified with many years of experience and understand the needs and interests of each student.

English Only Policy ALH has a strict English Only Policy in school that students must speak English at all times. English Only Policy helps students maximize students’ progresses and students challenge themselves to achieve their best.

General English (GE20 / GE25)

English Level: 5 levels

Each level: 4 weeks x 3 modules = total 12 weeks

All-around ability in English at any entry levels

Speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, naturally including grammar and vocabulary

GE25: Afternoon class with practical communication skills based on what students learn in the morning classes.

* Lessons per week: 20 Lessons or 25 Lessons

Supplemental Learning (optional - one lesson per day) Supplemental Learning is for students who want to maximize the use of the language with special focus lessons. The school selects some skills from the list below based on each student’s needs and interests.

Review Test – Bi-Weekly

Survival English Develop practical English skills in everyday situations. Topics include greetings, meeting people, small talk in English, making suggestions, giving opinions, and spare time vocabulary.

English for Work Learn to communicate clearly in business situations such as interviews, presentations and meetings. Learn work-related vocabulary and idioms and improve your business writing.

Pronunciation and Accent Reduction Learn tips on reducing on your accent and how to say difficult sounds in English. Review problem sounds, stress, patterns, intonation, and other features.

Creative Writing Learn how to use different techniques to write creatively. Develop creative ideas and express your opinions through writing in a variety of forms.

Canadian Idioms and Slang Learn a variety of English expressions that are used in daily conversation with a special emphasis on commonly used Canadian idioms and slang.

Reading Develop reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension by reading passages from a variety of sources such as newspapers, magazines, books, and websites.

Intensive Conversation (IC20 / IC25)

The Intensive Conversation is focused on speaking and listening, and students also spend time on grammar,

reading and writing. The program is designed to prepare students to communicate effectively in diverse

settings. Students develop and polish their English communication skills for academic, employment, and

personal goals.

* Entry requirements: Level 4 or higher

* Program duration: 4 weeks / 8 weeks

* Lessons per week: 20 Lessons / 25 Lessons

IELTS Preparation (IP20 / IP25) – 2 Levels

The IELTS Preparation is designed to develop the specific language skills of students preparing to take the IELTS Examination. This course targets the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking competencies that are required for optimum performance in the IELTS examination. Students must complete IELTS Preparation Level 1

to enroll Level 2 or pass a Level 2 entry test.

* Entry requirements: Level 4 or higher

* Program duration: 4 weeks per level

* Lessons per week: 20 Lessons / 25 Lessons

IELTS Preparation focuses on:

• English language skills in the IELTS examination areas: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking • Equip students with effective skills and strategies needed for the IELTS examination • Practice in test-taking strategies with realistic time limits • Gain confidence in speaking and listening skills
