The Accelerated NLP Practitioner 30-Day Action Plan

Congratulations on starting your NLP Practitioner 30-Day Action Plan!

Far too many people spend their valuable time going to NLP courses only to put away their books after the training. We are so excited you are continuing your education, and can’t wait to hear all about it!

This 30-Day Action Plan is all about YOU. You’re going to integrate NLP into your life far faster, easier and at a more unconscious level than you would otherwise. This really demonstrates your commitment to the field, and to your own life. Thank you so much for giving yourself the value you deserve!

Here are some helpful hints to make finishing this Action Plan the smoothest possible process for you...

#1. The 30-Day Challenge is meant to be done in conjunction with your test. Everything is specifically laid out so you will receive the most value and insights while going through the manual, filling out test questions, and completing this challenge. If you go through and do the tasks assigned for each day, your test will be completed by the same time you finish the Action Plan!

#2. Go at your own pace! It’s called the 30-Day Action Plan, but you can take as much or as little time as you would like. You can do the daily segments in one day as directed, or if you want to go slower you can take two days for a topic here and there. Challenge yourself appropriately!

#3. Please use separate sheets of paper for this 30-Day Action Plan. Upon completion of this action plan and test please download and complete the Application for Affiliation/ Certification from the following website of the certifying board, AIP (The Association for Integrative Psychology). http://www.aiponline.org/process.html.

The Accelerated NLP Practitioner 30-Day Action Plan

Day 1

Write 100-200 words on what NLP is to you. This doesn’t need to be the “textbook” answer about what NLP is. This next 30-days is an opportunity for you to make NLP “your own.” This is about you, and we are going to do everything we can on our end to support you and offer you valuable resources to help you integrate everything you’ve learned. For today, delve into your unconscious and describe NLP in your own words.

Day 2

The more you study and practice the techniques from the NLP Practitioner manual, the deeper the information will sink in. Read pages 88 – 101 with fresh eyes. What is something valuable that you learned or gained clarity on from those pages? What did it help you to remember from your training? How can you use that information to further impact your communication and/or your life? Write it all down! (100-200 words)

The Accelerated NLP Practitioner 30-Day Action Plan

Day 3

One of the best ways to really ingrain something deep in the unconscious is to ask yourself questions and then write out the answers. In order to help you really integrate these amazingly powerful Presuppositions, one of your tasks for the next 14 days is going to be to, just very briefly, write about each of the 14 Presuppositions one at a time. This is your place to gain insights into the presuppositions of NLP that are even more advanced than what we covered in the training!

Remember, it is not a requirement for you to believe that all of the presuppositions of NLP are 100% “true”. Presuppositions are convenient beliefs – not hard facts. If your beliefs differ, then groovy! The field of NLP doesn’t see anybody as “broken.” The Presuppositions of NLP are about giving you more options and perspective in how you choose to react to life’s situations. Really experiencing and “going inside” these beliefs will make it easier to respect where people are coming from, gain rapport and also influence others.

The purpose of adding these in the 30-Day challenge is to give you a place to track your results while you *act* as though these are true. This means by the time you’ve completed the 30-Day challenge, you will have in-depth experience of living NLP, as opposed to just understanding it on an intellectual level. This is where the action starts.

So your task today is to write 100-200 words on NLP Presupposition #1 “Respect for the other person’s model of the world”. What does this presupposition mean, and why is it important? Brainstorm useful areas to apply this presupposition in your life. How has it already begun to shift your perspective? Write it all down!

Day 4

Continuing our task from yesterday on the Presuppositions, write 100-200 words on NLP Presupposition #2 “Behavior and change are to be evaluated in terms of context and Ecology”. What does this presupposition mean, and why is it important? Brainstorm useful areas to apply this presupposition in your life. How has it already begun to shift your perspective? Write it all down!

Tasks today: 5

Pages to read today: Just 16

Test questions to answer today: 12-15

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #2

Audio(s) to listen to today: Sensory Acuity

Topic for today: Sensory Acuity

Observe the changes in an individual persons’ skin color. This will give you better insight in observing that person’s emotional state. Pay attention to when a person’s color changes from light to dark (as opposed to “red” for example). This skill, along with other sensory acuity skills you’ll learn in the upcoming days will give you the ability to “read people like a book,” which is immensely valuable!

Helpful Tips:

• Be careful to avoid “Mind Reads,” e.g. opinions or guesses on what other people are feeling. For example, you may notice that the face gets darker. That person may be feeling excited, or warm, or nervous, or something completely different! Remember not to give meaning, just observe the changes. Leave the analysis to Freud.

• Allow your eyes to defocus into Expanded Awareness (Hakalau). Utilizing Expanded Awareness will enable you to observe other people without “staring at” anyone.

• Since today the only thing you’re paying attention to are the shifts in color, pretend that everything you see is in black-and-white. This will make it easier to notice the color shifts from light to dark.

Task #2 - Observe Skin Color

Watch the demonstration for “Sensory Acuity” on the DVD you received at the training.

Task #3 - Watch the Demo DVD

Today switch from noticing the changes in skin color to observing the changes in people’s skin tonus. Skin tonus simply means the tension or relation in the muscles under the skin. These can be big, easy to notice shifts like the corners of the mouth curling upward or raising an eyebrow, or small, subtle shifts like micro muscle movements. Does the person’s skin look tight or relaxed? Notice that light reflects differently on the skin. Also, depending on that person’s age, someone may appear to have less wrinkles when their skin tightens. Also, notice if that person’s face looks symmetrical or not symmetrical.

Task #2 - Observe Skin Tonus

Now we move on to breathing. Today you are going to observe peoples’ breathing patterns and the changes they make. People change their breathing patterns all the time as they enter different emotions. In fact, breathing is one of the easiest ways to observe unconscious state changes in a person.

Notice, is that person breathing from their diaphragm or from their chest? Also notice that person’s breathing rate. Did the breathing rate or location shift while you were talking with them? Bonus points if you can figure out what part of the conversation triggered the change!

Helpful Tips:

• In order to see the breathing easier remember to stay in expanded awareness

• Also, looking at the shoulders and at the way clothing moves is a helpful way to see change while someone is breathing.

Moving on to the “windows of the soul”...the eyes!

Today you will notice changes in the eyes, the moment to moment shifts in pupil dilation and in their focus.

I especially like watching someone’s eyes while they’re reading a book or are watching an engaging movie. It’s a great way to observe the shifts without the person being observed becoming too self conscious. Keep in mind not to stare too much though! Especially if you’re watching random strangers at a bookstore. It can prompt some interesting questions (I speak from experience).

Helpful Tips:

• Talking to someone with large eyes can make this process easier.

• As with all of Sensory Acuity, Expanded Awareness will facilitate your observations greatly.

• If you want a reference point for what “defocused” looks like, remember that your eyes defocus when you go into Hakalau (Expanded Awareness). Try this task with somebody else who knows NLP and watch them enter Hakalau. For that matter, you could teach Hakalau to somebody else and observe their eyes defocusing.

One of the most interesting things to observe with your new skills of Sensory Acuity is to notice the changes in lower lip size. Notice if you can see lines on that person’s lips and how close together they are? Or you may see their lips smooth and full. Notice all the times that you see the size of a person’s lower lip size change and keep looking till you see it different with one person.

Task #2 - Observe Lower Lip Size

This is a GREAT exercise to hone your skills and to put everything you’ve been practicing these last few days together. Watch an unscripted interview on TV or online with the sound muted and notice all the changes you can. The nice thing about interviews is that because the people are usually sitting in one place the light stays pretty consistent and it’s easy to focus on just the changes in the face. This exercise works best if the interview is emotional. Youtube.com is a great resource for looking up interviews. Just don’t get too distracted by cat videos.

Task #3 - Putting it all together!

Audio(s) to listen to today: Rapport

Topic for today: Rapport

Today venture into the world and practice creating rapport!

Match and mirror everybody you meet, and feel what it is like to be in rapport with so many people. How are people responding? Do you notice a difference? Do you feel different yourself? See if you can notice all four indicators of rapport, including:

1. Kinesthetic: Are you warming up to anyone, or are people warming up to you? What feelings are you aware of inside your body? How do you know you’re creating rapport?

2. Visual: As people are warming up to you, do you notice any color shifts in their face? Use your sensory acuity to notice any color shift, either in them or in yourself!

3. Auditory: You may actually hear people saying things to indicate rapport. Notice if anyone mentions the connection you’re creating.

4. Auditory Digital: Lastly, the only sure indicator of rapport, is anyone matching or mirroring YOU?

The goal today is to at least keep matching or mirroring people until you notice that you have the lead, until you notice they are following you. Remember, it’s called “pacing and LEADING”

Oh and by the way, if you make any new friends today… you’re welcome!

Task #2 - Practice Rapport with everyone!

Write 100-200 words on NLP Presupposition #8 “You are in charge of your mind, and therefore your results.” What does this presupposition mean, and why is it important? Brainstorm useful areas to apply this presupposition in your life. How has it already begun to shift your perspective?

Tasks today: 6

Pages to read today: 19-24

Test questions to answer today: 23-26

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #8

Audio(s) to listen to: Representational Systems #1 and #2

Topic for today: Representational Systems

For this task, don’t worry about matching anybody’s predicates (although you may find yourself doing so accidentally!) All you’re going to do right now is listen. Listen till you hear at least one example of each rep system (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and/or Auditory Digital).

Task #2 - Just listen for Predicates

Next you’re going to have at least 1 full conversation exclusively in each representational system. During this task you are *not* required to match other peoples’ predicates (but points if you do). Instead, pick out any of the 4 favored representational systems on page 19, and really get into them. For example, if you picked Kinesthetic, adopt the posture, breathing and speech styles that Kinesthetic people tend to use. As soon as you pick one out and really get into it, have a conversation with somebody, and *exclusively* use predicates from the representational system you picked. (You may want to review predicates on page #20). This task may not be totally clear. Or it might resonate with your skill set perfectly. Have fun!

Task #3 - Practice speaking in different systems

By now you should have experienced using all 4 of the different rep systems and I’m sure you’ve noticed all sorts of predicates throughout your day. Congratulations! Now your task is to match other peoples’ predicates – assuming you haven’t done so already. Notice how easily people can see, feel, hear and understand your communication!

Task #4 - Practice matching other people’s Predicates

Test questions to answer today: 31-33a

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #9

Audio(s) to listen to today: The Milton Model

Topic for today: Milton Model

Today we start working with the Milton Model. You are going to be working on one new Milton Model language pattern every day for the rest of the program and I know you are going have an amazing experience integrating these into your everyday speech!

Keep in mind that when you are really doing Milton Model patterns, it is best to just let go and let your Unconscious take over for the most part.

So here is all you need to do for all of the Milton Model patterns from here out.

1. Familiarize yourself with the pattern by reviewing the examples on pages 40-45

2. Listen for examples of it in other’s communication. (Remember, you can’t not use the Milton Model)

3. Practicing using the pattern yourself as much as you can throughout the day

So for today you’re working on...

Mind Reads:

I know you’re reading this task right now, and it’s telling you to go out and practice doing Mind Reads all day long. I bet you can come up with a lot of different Mind Reads. I think you’ll say as many as come to mind. I’m sure you’ll do a great job, and that no one will notice. I also know that even if people notice they wont care, because it just feels so good to go into a trance...

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #1

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #10

Audio(s) to listen to today: NA

Topic for today: Voice Tone & The Agreement

Practice Lost Performatives: Review, Listen, Speak

It’s good to practice using Lost Performatives in your language. Today it is important to use as many Lost Performatives as possible. Using hypnotic language patterns is the right thing to do.

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #2

Practice all 3 different types of voice tonality by reading something out loud, or having a conversation with yourself. Do this for about 10 minutes total. First, spend three minutes using an upward, questioning tonality. Then spend three minutes using a very flat tonality. Pretend everything you say out loud is just a statement, even if the statement is a question. Lastly, talk for three minutes straight using a downward, commanding tonality.

Task #3 - Practice voice tonality

Practice favoring downward tonality more than you usually do all day while communicating with others. How does it feel to use downward tonality all the time? How are people responding to you?

Task #4 - Use command tonality a lot

Begin to use the Agreement Frame as much as possible. Let people know how much respect, appreciate and maybe even agree with their opinion. Notice how much people appreciate it back!

Task #5 - Practice The Agreement Frame

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #11

Audio(s) to listen to: Linguistic Presuppositions #1 and #2

Topic for today: Linguistic Presuppositions

Practice Cause & Effect patterns: Review, Listen, Speak

Practicing the Milton Model will make you a more effective communicator. You may find that when you practice Cause & Effect patterns all day today, they will cause you to use these patterns at the unconscious level. I know that just using Cause & Effect patterns today will make conversational hypnosis so easy for you.

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #3

Review all nine of the Linguistic Presuppositions listed on page 35. After reviewing, go out and just simply listen to all the different types of linguistic presuppositions that people make. We use these all the time in our every day communication. Keep track of the different kinds of linguistic presuppositions you hear, whether they’re from your friends, co-workers, or even people on TV. Keep track and continue listening for all the different linguistic presuppositions until you have at least one example for all nine.

Task #3 - Listen for Linguistic Presuppositions

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #12

Audio(s) to listen to today: The Hierarchy of Ideas

Topic for today: The Hierarchy of Ideas

Practice Complex Equivalence patterns: Review, Listen, Speak

Just because you’re reading this and practicing the Milton Model that means you are a more effective communicator. This means that people will begin to listen and respond to you more and more each and every day. Learning to communicate more powerfully is quite possibly the most important thing you will do today.

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #4

Spend today chunking up on as many things as you possibly can today. When you hear someone mention a thing, a person, a place, a concept, anything! Just simply ask yourself “What is this an example of?” and just keep chunking up and up and up until finally you reach existence.

Here are a few examples of the kind of thing you can listen for:

• Ex: Somebody says, “I am going to the library.” Chunk up by asking yourself, “What is the library an example of?” Library -> Building -> Shelter ->Object -> Existence

• Ex: Somebody says, “My phone is superior to your phone.” Chunk up by asking yourself, “What is phone an example of?” Phone -> Communication Device -> Communication -> Existence

Remember that these are only examples and where YOU chunk up to is only limited by your imagination. Have fun!

Task #3 - Practice Chunking Up

Task #1 - Write about Presupposition #13

Audio(s) to listen to today: NA

Topic for today: The Hierarchy of Ideas

Practice Presuppositions: Review, Listen, Speak

You can do this task easily because so many presuppositions exist. You realize you have more ability than ever before go to out and practice as many presuppositions as possible. The fact that presuppositions exist can make you aware that now, or maybe in a few moments, you will go out and be amazed by all the presuppositions you say throughout the day.

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #5

Since yesterday we chunked up into the clouds, today we’re going to come back down to earth. Spend today chunking down on all the different kinds of things you hear. Again, you don’t necessarily have to say any of these out loud but you can if you’d like or if it helps. Ask yourself questions such as, “What are examples of this?” or “What specifically?” Keep chunking down until you can’t get any more specific!

Task #3 - Practice Chunking Down

Audio(s) to listen to today: The Meta Model

Topic for today: Meta Model

Universal Quantifiers: Review, Listen, Speak

Practice all of the Universal Quantifiers that you can ever imagine. You’re always using these speech patterns anyway, so all day long today go out and use them. You can do this forever… or at least until the end of the day.

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #6

Observe all of the meta model violations you hear throughout the day. Odds are, it won’t necessarily be appropriate to respond to peoples’ meta model violations (Ex: “You have a good job huh? Says who? What would happen if it wasn’t?”) You sometimes have to be careful about keeping meta model responses to yourself unless the context is appropriate. However, if a time comes when it is appropriate, utilize a few meta model responses in your communication with others. (Ex: “I am happy!” “About what specifically?” is probably fine.)

Task #3 - Practice the Meta Model

Test questions to answer today: Just 33g

Task #1 - Teach a friend all about the Presuppositions

Audio(s) to listen to today: Metaphor

Topic for today: Metaphors

Practice Modal Operators of Possibility and Necessity: Review, Listen, Speak

I know it is definitely possible to practice using Modal Operators of Possibility and Necessity today. And you need to do it in order to complete your tasks for the day.

Task #2 - Practice Milton Model pattern #7

After you review pages 46-48, the first thing to do is just begin to simply notice metaphors that others use throughout the day. Every time you hear a metaphor, say it to yourself or write it down in a notebook. Spend the day creating a list of interesting and applicable metaphors.

The more you do this, the more you will realize that absolutely EVERYTHING can be a metaphor for ANYTHING! Get creative and have fun! Here are some examples:

• “He drinks like a fish.”• “The bed of roses smiled at the morning and opened their petals to the sun.”• “The clock is mocking me with its ticks and its tocks.” • “He ran as fast as a speeding bullet.”

Task #3 - Notice Metaphors

Think of an issue that could use some resolution. This could be an issue in your life, a friend’s life, or even something you remember hearing from the NLP training. Consider the issue and write one metaphor centered around it. This time, the metaphor has a specific intention in mind. The intention can be resolve the issue entirely, or maybe just open the person’s eyes to a new way of thinking. Jot down the issue and write your metaphor!(200-400 words)

Task #4 - Write a short, focused Metaphor

Test questions to answer today: Just 33qiv

Task #1 - Practice Milton Model pattern #18d

Audio(s) to listen to today: Parts Integration #1 - #3

Topic for today: Parts Integration

This is the final task in the NLP Practitioner 30-Day Challenge, so make it memorable (in a good way)! Find a partner who has a “parts problem.” Does part of that person want one thing, but part of them wants another?

Listen for examples of possible conflicts that sound something like:

“Part of me want’s to work out and eat healthy but the other part of me wants to sit around and eat twinkies.”

Anyone who has ever “self sabotaged” is another good possibility.

The truth is, everyone can benefit from a Parts Integration. I don’t think I have ever met a person who couldn’t stand to be more congruent.

Once you’ve found someone and discovered the Parts to integrate, read the Parts Integration Script on page #72 and have fun!

Task #3 - Do a Parts Integration
