Comenius Programme – “Healthy Children – Promising Generations”
1. General information
The survey was conducted in the second term of the school year 2012/2013.
179 children from classes Ib ,IIa, IIb, IIId, IVd, Vd, VIa took part in this survey.
It consisted of 12 questions, which allowed the interviewees to give one or a few
answers.

3.The analysis of the results.
Ouestion No 1.
132 pupils, which is the majority , claim that they eat a lot of fruit and vegetables.

The most unhealthy products according to the children are fast-food, and then crisps and sweets.

The pupils eat three or four and more meals a day.

The majority of children practise sport regularly and the rest is physically active at least sometimes.

30% of the interviewees eat wholemeal products systematically, and 60% - sometimes.
Question No 6.
5% of the interviewees drink sweet fizzy drinks every day, 30% don’t drink such drinks at all, 51%
drink them only once a week.

49% of the students claim that we should eat meals 4-5 times a day, 31% of the interviewees claim
that 3 meals a day are enough. 16 % of the kids claim that we should eat when we are hungry, and
4% couldn’t answer this question.
Question No 8.
How is your breakfast like?
82% of the interviewees is happy about their morning meals. They find them tasty and healthy.
Unfortunately, there are 5 students among the interviewees who don’t eat breakfast at all and 24
kids eat it only sometimes.

88% of the interviewees claim that fruit and vegetables should be eaten raw, because they contain
the most vitamins. 5,5% of the students say that they are the most tasty. The same amount of the
interviewees couldn’t answer this question.

The most beneficial for health is, according to the kids, the physical exercise in the fresh air.
Question No 12.
What is the main role of a healthy diet?
88% of the pupils claim that the most important role of eating is providing the essential nutritious
ingredients. 8% believe that eating meals is mainly for pleasure. 4% of the pupils couldn’t show the
most important function of eating healthy food.
4.CONCLUSIONS
The students from our school proved that their knowledge about the healthy food is
satisfactory. However, the knowledge connected with this topic should be extended to make the
children realise how important is the process of healthy eating, help them form the proper eating
habits and inculcate a benefitial healthy lifestyle.
