To have multiple words all blanked-out at one time, change the number in the curly braces so that they all match. For example:

The three major nutrient groups are {{c1::carbs}}, {{c1::proteins}}, and {{c1::fats}}.

Will create:

Card 1: The three major nutrient groups are [...], [...], and [...]. | The three major nutrient groups are carbs, proteins, and fats.

To give yourself a hint for cloze cards, add ‘::’ after your answer and then type your hint. For example:{{c1::Men::Men/women}} have {{c2::higher::higher/lower}} BMRs

Will create:Card 1: [Men/women] have higher BMRs | Men have higher BMRsCard 2: Men have [higher/lower] BMRs | Men have higher BMRs

Image OcclusionInstall the plug-in by going to Tools > Add-ons > Browse & Install…Click Browse and a page will open in your web browser. Search (Ctrl + F) for “Image Occlusion”, click “Info” and then copy the number in the yellow box. Go back to Anki and paste this number in the box and click Ok. Close Anki and then reopen it to finish the installation process.

To make an Image Occlusion card:● First copy your image to the clipboard. Usually you will do this by selecting a region in your PDF reader. You

might also select a region in an image editing program like Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop and then clicking Edit > Copy or Ctrl + C.

● With the image on your clipboard, open the “Add Card” dialog box in Anki. It doesn’t matter what card type is selected. Click the Image Occlusion button:

The Image Occlusion dialog box will open and the image on your clipboard will be automatically inserted. (If you get an “Open File” dialog box, you did not have an image copied to your clipboard. Close it and try again.)

● Activating “wireframe mode” can make it easier to see which labels you have blocked-out.

● Once you have drawn rectangles around all of your labels, you need to click either one of these buttons to create your cards

Settings:

Resist the urge to procrastinate by fiddling with all the settings Anki exposes. There are only a few important settings that you should change. Get to the settings panel by clicking the gear icon next to a deck:

By default Anki only lets you review 25 new cards per day--you will need to increase this to deal with the volume of information you are required to learn. I suggest setting this to about 100-150 new cards per day. Setting the value higher than this will force you to re-review too many cards in the future and you will not be able to stay on-track with reviews. Remember, you can spread out some of your new reviews to the weekend so it is okay if you are reviewing slightly

fewer new cards per day than you are creating.

You will also need to increase the limit on the number of new cards to review per day. I set this to a high number and try to do all the reviews that are due each day to make sure that I don’t forget anything. However, if you find that you are getting overwhelmed with reviews, it is okay to set the number to something more manageable--Anki will automatically prioritize and show you first the cards that you are most likely to be weak on.
