Product Comparison criteria for piping
A. Friction Loss related to RA value: All type of piping has friction loss which is completely dependent upon the design of pipeline and its inner surface. The value of friction loss has been measured under the unit of RA Value. The lesser the friction loss is, the least will be its RA Value. Hence, the selection of pipe will be such an important factor according to its friction loss.
B. Maintenance related to Corrosion and Erosion: It is always necessary to get maintenance free product along with its better quality. And the main reasons for maintenance are corrosion and erosion in the pipeline due to the transmit of water and chemicals. Hence, you should choose a special grade of pipeline which will be totally Non corrosive and Non Erosive.
C. Sagging related to Support: In any type of pipeline, esthetic view with Sag‐Free piping is compulsory along with least pressure drop and friction loss because the Sagging in any pipeline leads to pressure drop and more energy consumption. Hence, the selection of pipeline should be in such a way which is having the least Thermal Expansion since the least Thermal Expansion will give least sagging.
D. Support and clamping requirement: To avoid the issue of Sagging, the requirement of support and clamping will be increased which will take your costing higher. Therefore, to choose the pipeline with least Thermal Expansion has become essential for the users.
E. Leakage related to Energy Saving: The most effective draw back in any of the pipeline is Leakage which consumes a big part of energy in the plant and wastes at least 10 % of the consumed air in the form of leakage either from the joints or from other welded parts. So at the time of selection of pipeline, most important factors such as Threaded joining system, Butt Fusion joining system, Push Fit joining system etc are always taken into consideration which will help you to reduce your costing.
F. Life Expectancy: Life of the pipeline depends on the product quality, joining system, performance and the assurance for product given by the supplier. You should also consider the payback period while choosing the pipeline in order to get long life of the pipe along with NIL Maintenance.
