Most animals in the Arctic are white.This serves as camouflage in the snow.

Polar bears are the biggest bears in the world.They weigh between 300 and 650 kilos.In summer they eat plants.In winter they eat artic hares,harp seals and artic foxes.They are very good swimmers and can swim long distances.They live for about 25 years.

Arctic hares are white in winter.They live in groups of 100 to 300 animals.They can hop at 64 km per hour!Arctic hares eat mosses,lichens,leaves,seaweed,bark and roots,and even the meat from hunters trap

Harp seals are marine mammals.Baby harp seals have a white coat for 10 to 14 days.Their enemies are the arctic fox,polar bears and man,who hunts them for their coats.They live for about 30 years.

There are 2.4 minion caribou in Canada.They eat plants.Their enemies are arctic foxes,wolves and bears.Males and females grow new antlers every year.Caribou belong to the same species as reindeer.

Arctic foxes eat arctic hares,caribou, birds and eggs.Their enemies are polar bears and man,who hunts them for their coats.Arctic foxes have very thick fur-the warmest coats of any mammal.

The snowy owl is the official bird of Quebec,Canada.They are active all day and night.They eat mice,arctic hares and birds.They survive in temperatures of -50ºC.When the baby owls are born,both parents look after them.
