Habitat

– Did you know where a hippo lives well it’s all right here. Hippos live in the South Africa is usually 100 degrees. Hippos also live near river banks, grasslands, rivers, and lakes. Hippos also live all around Africa. Hippos can’t really swim though they do push off of the ground of the water. Food and Nutrition

• Did you know what the hippo eats gets food and how often the hippo eats, well it will be right here. The hippo eats herbivore pellets, Bermuda hay, lettuce ( only on special occasions), melons, plants, and water plants, leaves, and vegetables. The hippo eats 88 lb. a night, and eat about 130 lb. a day. The hippo gets its food by pulling with its very big and sharp teeth. The hippo also can get the food from it with its senses. The hippo is a herbivore, so that means the hippo only eats plants and vegetables. Now that’s a lot of food keep reading.!!

Introduction– Did you Know that the hippo is related to other

animals like , pigs,camels,deers sheep's, giraffes, goats, antelopes, and a cattle. Those animals are related because, These animals are hoofed mammals. These are called herbivores. This is three facts about the related animals to the hippo. Did you know that there is two kinds of hippos they are, hippo, and a pygmy hippo. These hippos can’t live in Aurora, Ohio, because right now is too cold and also most of them live in Africa. They live in a group of 200 animals. Is that crazy or what. Life Cycle

• The hippo goes through an incomplete metamorphosis. An incomplete metamorphosis is when an animal is born and just gets bigger. The hippo gives live birth. The hippo is not born from an egg. As the hippo gets older it gets bigger. The baby is called a calf. The baby hippo is the first stage of a hippo. Then , the hippo is now a little bigger. Then, the hippo is now full grown and is now a full grown adult hippo. The hippo can live up to 45 years old of their lives. That is a long life for a hippo keep reading. !!

Enemies and Survival Functions

– Did you know the hippo has enemies? Well they are right in this paragraph. One of the enemies are humans, I know that sounds weird, but humans use to shoot hippos it happens less now. One other enemy is a hippo, hippos fight against each other. Hippos survive by staying in groups. Another enemy is a lion, a lion has sharp teeth to eat the hippo. One adaptation is the hippo using its sharp teeth to back off other enemies. Those are the enemies of the hippo so keep reading. !!

Interesting Facts

– Did you know the hippo could not swim I will tell you why and I will tell you some more interesting facts. The hippo can’t swim because all they do is push off of the ground in the pond, lake, and other water places but oceans or pools. Did you know the hippo licks an alligator because you know how the alligator eats fish well the hippo likes the taste of fish well the alligator eats fish that is why the hippo licks the alligator. Hippos like to go in mud because the .1 the hippo could blend in 2.it is warm to them and 3.it feels good to them. The hippo has a great sense of smell because its big nostrils. Hippos are dangerous but they are cute one hippo could kill one human. That does not mean that you have to be scared though some are trained. Those are some interesting facts about the hippo. !!

The most important thing of the hippo is its stubby legs they are so important because, the hippo can not swim so they push off of the ground.
