About Reiki Reiki is Japanese healing system discovered in the 1920s and brought to the United States in 1938. Reiki (RAY kee) is passed on from teacher to student through an attunement process and involves a deep spiritual practice that results in the practitioner’s ability to facilitate healing for him/herself and others. Reiki is considered by the National Institute of Health’s Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) as a biofield therapy. Illness, injury and trauma cause imbalances to the body, mind and spirit, thus appear in our animals as disease, pain, or stress. A Reiki practitioner is attuned to Reiki and in turn is able to facilitate the flow of Reiki energy to the animal, working to restore balance to the energetic field or biofield that surrounds the animal’s body. When the biofield is balanced, the animal’s physical body can heal itself. Animal Reiki Training The Animal Reiki Alliance offers two training tracks for those interested in learning Animal Reiki: Animal Reiki Training Certificate training that offers the student classroom study of animal Reiki and includes didatic and experiential learning, including hands-on experience with animals. About Reiki

Reiki is Japanese healing system discovered in the 1920s and brought to the United States in 1938. Reiki

(RAY kee) is passed on from teacher to student through an attunement process and involves a deep spiritual

practice that results in the practitioner’s ability to facilitate healing for him/herself and others.

Reiki is considered by the National Institute of Health’s Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine

(NCCAM) as a biofield therapy. Illness, injury and trauma cause imbalances to the body, mind and spirit,

thus appear in our animals as disease, pain, or stress. A Reiki practitioner is attuned to Reiki and in turn is

able to facilitate the flow of Reiki energy to the animal, working to restore balance to the energetic field or

biofield that surrounds the animal’s body. When the biofield is balanced, the animal’s physical body can heal

itself.

Animal Reiki Training

The Animal Reiki Alliance offers two training tracks for those interested in learning Animal Reiki:

Animal Reiki Training

Certificate training that offers the student classroom study of animal Reiki and includes didatic and

experiential learning, including hands-on experience with animals. This training is intended for those

students who wish to work with their family and friend’s animals or volunteer at a local shelter. A cer-

tificate is offered upon completion of each of the three levels of training.

Certified Animal Reiki Practitioner (CARP) Training

Animal Reiki Certification Training (ARCT) offers the student the same classroom study as Animal

Reiki Training and includes additional hands-on practicum and mentoring with a Certified Animal Reiki

Practitioner (CARP). ARCT prepares the student to create their own Animal Reiki Practice, providing

them a credential that demonstrates that their skills and abilities were supervised and approved by

the Animal Reiki Alliance. The credential of Certified Animal Reiki Practitioner (CARP) is awarded to

those who successfully complete the certification process.
