Animal KingdomIntroduction

We have just discovered that life exist on the planet Mars but we do not recognize any of the animals living there. They do, however, share many of the same characteristics with those belonging to the animal kingdom on Earth.

You will be sent to Mars as part of a scientific team with the task of classifying these new organisms. Before you go, however, you must become an expert on the animal kingdom.

There are seven major phyla that most animals are put into. You need to understand what makes each phyla unique as well as recognize those organisms belonging to that phyla.

Animal KingdomYour Mission

It is your mission to understand the current classification of the animal kingdom.

As the scientist being sent to Mars, you must develop a presentation to give to the other scientists on the mission that will prove you have the knowledge about our animal classification to accurately identify the new-found animals.

In order to present your knowledge convincingly you must teach the scientists about one specific phylum. You must show that you recognize the characteristics that make that phylum unique.

Task 1: Research the animal phylum given to your group. Use the websites provided to complete your animal phylum sheet. This will help you organize your information in order to present to other scientists.

Task 2: Create a 5-slide PowerPoint presentation displaying the characteristics and examples of your animal phylum.

Task 3: Complete the Animal phyla activity sheet while other scientists are presenting their information.

Animal Kingdom

Here are a list of steps you are expected to complete for your mission:

TASK 2

Create a 5-slide PowerPoint displaying the characteristics and examples of your animal phylum.

Use the following guidelines:Slide 1: Must include the name of the animal phylum you are researching and the names of the members in your group.

Slide 2-4: List all of the characteristics and features that you have found regarding your animal phylum. Make sure that you have found all of the information required as well as other information you feel is important.

Slide 5: Include at least 3 examples of members in your animal phylum. You must include both the names of the organisms as well as pictures of each on your slide.
