Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• [1]Phylum –Protozoa.• They are unicelluar

animals. In these animals, locomotion occurs with the help of cillia or flagella and pseudopodia. They reproduce generally through binary fission

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [2] Porifera• They are multicellular

animals. They donot have tissues in their bodies. They possess well-devloped water canal system and their body is characterised by the presense of numerous pores.

• Example--Sponges

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [3] Coelenterata

• They are multicellular animals and Have tissue in their body. The walls of their body consist of two layers cells.

• Examples—Hydra, Jellyfish

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [4] Platyhelminthes

• They are flat-bodies sssanimals with primitive oragans and organ ststem. They are mostly parasites

• Examples-Taenia Soluium Planaria.

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum[5] Aschelminthes

• They have cylindrical body structure and live as parasitic worms.

• Example—Ascaris Roundworm

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [6]Annelida• They have

segmented biody structure. The walls of their body consists of three layers of cells . Lomotion is conducted with the help of setae.

• Examples—Earthworm.,

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [7]Arthropoda• They have segmented

body structure. Their body wall is trip loblastic. They possess characteristic of joint legs.

• Example-Crab, Cockroach, Butterfly.

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [8]Mollusca• They are soft-bodies

animals. Their body is covered with shells for protection.

• Example :- Pila, Snail, Sepia, etc.

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Phylum [9] Echinodermata

• They are marine animals. They have spines all over their body. They have well devloped water vascullar system.

• Example—Starfish Sea cucumber

Animal Kingdom

• Chordates--• [1] Pisces• [2] Amphibia• [3] Reptillia• [4] Aves• [5] Mammalia

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Chordates• Class [1] Pisces• They live in water and

include all types of fish. Most of their body is covered with scales. They swim with the help fins and respire through gills. They reproduce by laying eggs.

• Example-Labeo, Shark

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Class [2] Amphibia• They live in water as

well as on land. Their skin is smooth and slimy. They have two pairs of limbs. They reproduce by laying eggs.

• Examples—Frog,Toad

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Class [3] Reptilia.• They live mostly on land.

Their skins are dry and covered with scales. Except snakes, all other reptiles have two pairs of limbs . They respire through lungs and reproduce by laying eggs.

• Examples –Chameleon, Lizard, Snake, Tortoise.

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]

• Class [4] Aves• They include all birds. Their

bodies are covered with feathers. They show remarkable flight adaptations, where forelimbs are modified into wings. They have light ,hollow and spongy bones, which help them in flight . They reproduce by laying eggs.

• Example- Pigeon

Animal Kingdom [Cont..]• Class [5] Mammalia• This is the most familiar class

of animals and they include all mammals. Their bodies are covered with hair and they have two pair of limbs. The females posses mammary glands to suckle their young ones. They respire through lungs. The females give birth to young ones.

• Example-Tiger; Man, Whale.
