Dr. Anil Potti Is Well Known For His
Humanitarian Work
Dr. Anil Potti is a professional oncologist from the United States and has earned several awards for his outstanding skills as a researcher, advocate, educator and mentor. In 2003, he received Leonard P. Tow Humanism in Medicine Award- which is given to a graduating student and faculty member who demonstrates the principles of compassion in providing care and respect to patients as well as their families, and healthcare colleagues.
To qualify for this award, the faculty member should be approachable to students and aware of psychological wellbeing of his patients. Other awards Dr. Anil Potti has received are Joseph Greenfield Mentoring Award- Duke IM Residents, ASCO Idea Mentor Award, Burroughs Wellcome Physician award, and Outstanding Teacher Award- Internal Medicine Residents.
He is also well known for his contributions to the field of lung cancer research. He has contributed to several research papers, such as Age and Sex specific genomic profiles in non-small cell lung cancer; Characterizing the Clinical Relevance of an Embryonic Stem Cell Phenotype in Lung Adenocarcinoma; Genetic Heterogeneity of Myc-induced mammary tumors reflecting diverse phenotypes including metastatic potential; A genomic approach to colon cancer risk stratification yields biologic insights into therapeutic opportunities; and more.
In addition, Anil Potti along with Dr. Joseph Nevins has also written another important research paper entitled “Mining Gene Expression Profiles: Expression Signature as cancer phenotypes”. Published on August, 2007 in Nat Rev Genet, this paper stresses the importance of gene expression profiles in order to understand biological phenotypes.
Dr. Anil Potti is a highly professional and well-qualified individual who has attended prestigious educational institutions to complete his education. He graduated from Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore, India in 1995 and completed his residency training in the Department of Internal Medicine, University of North Dakota School of Medicine, Fargo, in 2000.
In addition to being a board-certified oncologist, he is also a philanthropist who takes part in several volunteering activities and strives to make the society a better place to live. He also donates a significant amount of money to the local church and local school system.
