THE ARTIST
3
In a career spanning more than 30 years, Angela Hayson is a Sydney based artist with a Masters of Art (drawing and printmaking specialisation) from the College of Fine Art, University of New South Wales, Australia and an interior design background. Angela combines her love of art and design with her passion for travelling, capturing the essence of places visited and found natural objects.
The nature of Angela’s work is to create bespoke artwork and limited edition prints, paintings and sculptures. The portfolio of work in this publication references trees, landforms and seed pods encountered in her local environment of Surry Hills, the Sydney Botanical Gardens, Outback Australia, and the Greek Islands. The work has been developed as limited edition etchings, woodcut prints, lithographs, unique monotypes and paintings.
Almost universally there is an increasing trend towards a union between built forms and the environment. For many years Angela has been interested in the integration of art and architecture with a specific interest in public space interiors. Public spaces and residential interiors can provide a highly visible canvas for artworks as a way of enriching the interaction with people occupying or visiting these areas.
“By removing my work from an everyday scale my aim is to connect more closely with the environment. I also aim to encourage anyone viewing my work to disconnect from the everyday and experience a more personal involvement with the subjects I portray”.
