Causes of magnesium deficiency include:
• Modern food production and processing, which leads to a decreased
content of magnesium and other minerals in foods, can lead to a lack of
magnesium in a modern diet.
• A poor, unbalanced diet and certain fad diets.
• Certain medications, illnesses (type 2 diabetes, for example) and alcohol
addiction.
• Stress and a fast-paced, stressful lifestyle increase the body’s need for
