Students are to come to school in uniform and then change at school ready for our Parade at 11.30. Please join us! We went in a dark maze. Some people were scared in the maze and some people were confident in the maze. When I was in the maze I was not scared, I was confident. I went through the whole maze but we couldn’t go into the extreme maze - the hardest one. We did a bush walk. We saw the Gross River and some caves. The river was named after an explorer called Gross. By Logan and Rushil Year Three’s went to Yarramundi camp on Monday. We took a bus, it almost took one hour to get there. Some of the activities were the giant swing, cave maze, making damper and rock climbing. My favourite thing was the giant swing. It made me face my fear of heights and communicate with others. The cabins were so amazing and clean. The bunk beds were so comfortable and there were air conditioners and heaters.

At Yarramundi the cabins had four rooms and each room had an air conditioner & six bunk beds. Our first activity was exploring the bamboo forest that was next to the Gross River. We had lunch in a really big hall and we got to choose what we got to eat.

Year 3 had a fun time at camp. The first day the Year 3’s did lots of activities like rock climbing, gaga ball and cave maze. We also got to eat yummy food like pasta, burgers and wraps, after dinner we got ice-cream with toppings! We got to know where our cabins were. In the cabins there were lots of bunk beds. The next day we got to go on the giant swing and got to make damper. The first step to making damper is putting flour into a bowl and shaping it into a volcano, secondly you pour water into the bowl, thirdly you knead it into a ball, finally you put it in the oven and let it cook for one and a half hours. By Juan, Leydon and Azaria

Last week 58 Year 4 students travelled to Camp Yarramundi by bus with Mrs Fester, Mrs Power and Mr Fitzgerald. It was a fun bus ride and all of the children were really excited to get there. Some of the activities the children did were rock climbing, giant swing, an obstacle course and navigating their way through a very dark cave maze. All of the kids had a fantastic time participating in each activity and learnt a lot about team work, communication and respect.

After dinner, we all met in the activity hall for a night of games and indoor activities. It was a great night, so great, that most of the children fell asleep straight away once returning to their rooms, however, some of the children were like owls, staying up later than most. We woke up early the next day to complete the remainder of the outdoor activities. The children learnt about stepping out of their comfort zone and getting the confidence to take on challenges. Before we left, the children had the opportunity to buy souvenirs. Some of them bought t-shirts, drink bottles and colourful erasers. All of the children were fantastic to take away overnight and represented our school with pride. Well done, boys and girls!

We had to arrive at school by 7:30 to hand in our medication, souvenir money and mark the roll. After that we all got on the bus to drive to the great Aussie Bush Camp which took about an hour and a half to get there. When we arrived we met our two instructors Squid and Taco. They talked about all the different activities we were going to do and arranged us into our cabins. Then we were organised into our two groups - The Squidlings and The Mighty Ducks. We were very excited and got ready for our first activities. The Mighty Ducks’ first activity was the Power Fan. The Power Fan is a tall telegraph pole with a strong fan on each end, you put on a full body harness and climb the telegraph pole. Once you get to the top you jump off the platform and slowly fall down like a feather. The Squidlings first activity was Lost Island. Lost Island is a really fun mud obstacle course. First we went down on a slide bringing you into a pool full of dirty mud water. Then we swam under and over 5 wooden logs. After we reached the end of the mud pool we went through a tyre track. After we got through the tyre track we got to a swinging rope. We got to swing over the muddy water then crawl under a net full of cold muddy water. Finally at the end we got to take a shower to wash off all the mud! For our second activity, The Mighty Ducks did archery which is basical-ly shooting an arrow at a target. The Squidlings second activity was the Power Fan. After dinner and shower hour we had our first night activity Commando. Commando was such an awesome game! The teachers had flashlights and they took two children “hostage” and the rest of the kids had to find the “hostages” while the teachers use flashlights to catch us out.

The next day the Squidlings first activity was Archery and the Mighty Ducks first activity was High Ropes. High Ropes is like The Treetops Adventure Park. Our other activities were Pioneering and Giant Swing. During Pioneering we tied pipes together using rope to make a chariot. We learnt the square lashing knot. The Giant Swing is basically a big swing which can hold three people. One person needed to pull the rope to release the swing. There was lots of screaming! Our last night activity was a movie night. We really enjoyed relaxing after a big two days! Our last two activities were Fencing and Tree Climb. Before we left camp we had a sausage sizzle, purchased souvenirs and left to come back to school. We all had a fabulous time at camp! We loved our instructors’ enthusiasm and perso nalities. We all enjoyed the fun activities we completed. Thank you to our parents for paying for us to go to camp and Miss Regan, Miss Wallace and Mr Katon who left their families at home to stay away with us at camp.
