ANDREW JACKSON WAS BORN ON MARCH 1767, IN WAXHAWS REGION BETWEEN NORTH CAROLINA AND SOUTH CAROLINA.GROWING UP IN THAT AREA, JACKSON RECIVED AN ERRACTIC EDUCATION.AT AGE 13, HE JOINED A LOCAL MILITARY AND SERVED AS A COURIER DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR.HIS BROTHER, HUGH.DIED IN THE BATTLE OF STONO FERRY IN 1779. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE BROTHERS WERE RELEASED BY BRITISH AUTHORITES, ROBERT DIED.NOT LONG AFTER HIS BROTHERS DEATH, IN NOVEMBER 1779 JACKSONS MOTHER DIED OF CHOLERA.AT THE AGE 14, HE WAS AN ORPHEN. RASIED BY HIS UNCLES. JACKSON BEGAN STUDYING LAW IN SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA, IN HIS LATE TEENS.

PERSONALITY.HE FOUGHT IN DUELS, SOME FATAL

TO HIS OPPONETS.HE WAS A WEALTHY

SLAVEHOLDER.HE FOUGHT POLITICALLY AGAINST

WHAT HE DENOUCED AS A

CLOSED,UNDEMONRATIC ARTISTOCRACY,ADDING

TO HIS APPEAL TO COMMON CITIZENS.

HE WAS ELECTED IN 1828, JACKSONSUPPORTED A SMALL AND LIMITED FEDRAL GOVERNMENT. HE STRENGHTENED THE POWER OF THE PRESIDENCY, WHICH HE SAW AS SPOKESMAN FOR THE ENTIRE POPULATION,AS OPPOSED TO CONGRESSMEN FROM A SPECIFIC SMALL DISTRIC.HE WAS SUPPORTIVE OF STATES RIGHTS ,BUT DURING THE NULLIFICATION CRISIS,DECLARED THAT STATES DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO NULLIFY FEDRAL LAWS.

to nurse infected prisoners

1783-Jackson taught school in Waxhaw 1787-Jackson admitted to the bar at age 20 1788-Jackson appointed solicitor or attorney general 1791-(August) Jackson marries Mrs. Rachel Donelson Roberts 1794-(January 17) Remarried Mrs. Roberts

1796-Elected to U.S House of Representatives 1797-Elected to U.S senate 1809-The Jacksons adopt 4 day old nephew of Mrs. Jackson and named him Andrew Jackson Jr. 1814-Defeated the Creek Indians in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend 1815-Defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans 1821-Appointed provisional governor of Florida 1823-Elected to U.S senate 1828-The U.S Flag had 24 stars when Jackson took office
