Transparency… or lack of

Andrea Casalotti. Vision Zero London

Lack of transparency

Impunity

Violence

Why don’t people cycle?

A hostile environment for pedestrians...

putting convenience of drivers first...

forcing pedestrians to take risks

Ben JohnsonSenior Delivery Planning Manager at Transport for London, in charge of Road Safety

“Transport for London has adopted Vision Zero”

As a result of TfL policies

A massacre of innocent people

Terrorism in Paris and in London

2015 - Charlie Hebdo17 innocent victims

2015 - at least 23 innocent people killed by traffic violence

How is it different?

TfL knows Oxford Street is lethal

but will do nothing about it, because they don’t want to delay buses.

Killers for an ideology

They killed for a warped view of Islam

They keep on killing to feather their nests

Hendy & Daniels don’t want you to know

It took two years of dogged campaigning by TfL Bus crash survivor Tom Kearney to force TfL to publish KSI data from its Bus operations...

and the results were shocking!

● Average Number of TfL Bus Collision KSIs per day: 1.5

● 2014 - ten fatalities involving buses

No wonder Hendy & Daniels were not keen for these figures to be in the public domain!

and the cause is simple

Only 8.2% of TfL Performance bonuses to its top Officers is dependent on reduction of KSIs

TfL prevents improvements in safety

● Does not want bus drivers to join CIRAS● Does not investigate allegations of

dangerous driving of buses● Does not want you to know how many

pedestrians are killed, and where.… because “people’s lives are a price worth paying to smooth traffic flow”

The charade

Let’s assume you want to report this driver

Coroners courts also lack transparency

Mary Hassell, Chief Coroner at St Pancras tries all tricks to prevent us from attending to inquests of slain pedestrians and cyclists

In December we asked TfL to publish

1. The results of all investigations of KSIs on the roads2. The names of all pedestrians killed (within seven days of their death), just like they do for cyclists 3. The results of investigations carried out by contracted bus companies

They refused to answer.

Vision Zero London’s goal is to

● Open the tin can with all its rotten content

● Name and shame the people who know their policies kill us but are happy to continue in their evil deeds

Join the fight for a safe London to walk and cycle
