Sin dalla sua fondazione, Venini ha assiduamente portato avanti una sfida nella ricerca del fondere la tradizione conlinnovazione, un tema senza tempo.Loggetto creato per celebrare il novantesimo anniversario di Venini simboleggia lo stimato spirito creativo dellaziendacome un incontro tra la millenaria tradizione del vetro d arte Veneziano e la forma pura e geometrica.

Loggetto composto da tre elementi della stessa forma. Questi elementi sono delle colonne triangolari con superficiecurva, generata dallinversione dei triangoli isosceli tra la parte superiore e inferiore delloggetto.Questa semplice operazione geometrica, unitamente alla purezza che contraddistingue il vetro Venini, crea un operain vetro dal carattere completamente nuovo. Unendo tre elementi in varie combinazioni, gli oggetti di vetro acquistanounespressione diversa con la luce.

La tradizione del vetro darte veneziano, che stata mantenuta per pi di mille anni, continuer certamente a viveregrazie a ulteriori incontri con design innovativi ed illuminanti.

From the time of its establishment, Venini has continued to boldly take on challenges in its pursuit of the timeless theme

to fuse tradition with innovation.The objet made to commemorate Veninis 90th anniversary symbolizes Veninis esteemed creative spirit as an encounter

between the 1000-year-old traditional Venetian glass craft techniques and pure geometric form.

The object is composed of three elements of the same shape. These elements are triangular columns with curvedsurfaces that are generated from inverting isosceles triangles between the top and bottom of the shaft. The simple

geometric operation conducted on the distinctively textured Venetian glass creates a glass product of a completely newcharacter. By bringing together three of these elements in various arrangements, glass objects are made that take on

different expressions with the light.

The Venetian glass tradition, that has been maintained for a thousand years, will surely continue to live on through its

further encounters with fresh, inspirational designs.

Esistono, nei vari ambienti creativi, figure che talvolta, segnano la loro epoca, lasciando ai contemporanei un messaggioche pu essere considerato come una testimonianza della loro audacia e della forza del loro pensiero.

TADAO ANDO una di queste.

Larditezza del progetto e la convinzione da parte di VENINI di trovarsi i n un particolare momento storico, hanno permessodi realizzare unopera unica e riconoscibile sovvertendo le abitudini consolidate nel vetro di Murano.LArchitetto Giapponese non ha mai precedentemente lavorato per lindustria. Per questo VENINI vuole dare un particolarerilievo a questa iniziativa che per fettamente si colloca nella ricorrenza del novantesimo anniversario della sua fondazione.

Tadao Ando e VENINI in questo progetto, riconoscendosi nella loro reciproca notoriet, vogliono testimoniare il loroanticipo sulla propria epoca, proponendo uninnovazione che vera essenza dellarchitettura e dellarte vetraria.

In the most various creative branches, sometimes there are personalities that stand out in particular, leaving a precise

mark to their contemporaries. A message that can be considered as a proof of their audacity and of the strength of theirthoughts.

TADAO ANDO is among these.

The boldness of this project and VENINIs firm belief of being in a particular historical moment, allowed the realization of

a unique work, recognizable by subverting the traditional Murano glass habits.The Japanese Architect has never worked for a firm before. Thats why VENINI wants to underline particularly this initiative,

which fits perfectly the celebrations of VENINIs ninetieth anniversary.

Tadao Ando and VENINI, in this project, recognize reciprocally their fame, giving particular evidence of the mark they willleave to these times, suggesting an innovation which is the essence of architecture and glass.

I forni di fusione trasformano le sabbie minerali in magmabollente.Il vetro in eccesso viene eliminato facendo colare lamassa vetrosa. La temperatura di fusione conferisce almateriale un colore arancio vivo.La massa vetrosa incandescente del peso di circa 15chili inizia ad essere lavorata.

La realizzazione di ANDO richiede il contributo di unMaestro vetraio e quattro assistenti per diverse ore.

Il Maestro vetraio modella loggetto usando attrezzi ugualia quelli usati nei secoli passati.La qualifica di Maestro vetraio viene conferita dopoalmeno ventanni di pratica in fornace.

La mano del Maestro vetraio deve far ruotarecontinuamente la canna in modo che la pasta vitreamantenga la forma voluta. Durante la lavorazioneloggetto deve essere continuamente riscaldato perpoter continuare ad essere modellato.La temperatura del vetro per modellarlo non deve maiessere inferiore a 800 in tutte le fasi lavorative.

The fusion furnaces transform the mineral sands in boilingmagma.

The exceeding glass gets removed by straining the vitreousmass. The fusion temperature gives to the material a

strong orange color.The incandescent vitreous mass starts to get

manufactured.

The manufacturing of ANDO requires the contribution ofone glass Master and four helpers for some hours.

The glass Master shapes the object by using the tools as

centuries ago.The title of Master is conferred after at least twenty years

of experience in the furnace.

The hand of the Master must keep rotating the cane, sothat the vitreous mass maintains the desired shape.

During the manufacturing the object must be oftenheated up in order to continue the shaping.

The temperature of the glass during all working stagesdoesnt have to be under 800 C.

ANDO dopo la prima fase della lavorazione a caldoha ancora una temperatura di 500 - 600 C e devessereraffreddato lentamente per non creare tensioni interneche possono provocarne la rottura.

Questo lento raffredamento viene realizzato in forni dettidi ricottura chiamati anche muffole.

L opera viene lasciata raffreddare gradualmente nellamuffola fino a ventiquattro ore.

ANDO once manufactured in the furnace, still keeps atemperature of 500 600 C and must be cooled slowly

in order not to create internal tensions that can causebreakages.

This slow cooling is realized in some furnaces of re-

cooking, the so-calledmuffle furnaces.

The work cools gradually inside the muffle till twenty-fourhours.

Una volta raggiunta la temperatura ambiente per loperainizia la fase della lavorazione a freddo, detta molatura.

La molatura del vetro una fase della lavorazionemolto importante.Esistono varie tecniche di molatura per creare raffinatieffetti sulle superfici del vetro.

Il Maestro molatore procede con lenti e sapientimovimenti per completare lopera.

Molte varianti di molaturafanno parte del patrimoniostorico ed artistico di VENINI.

Once reached the room temperature, the art-piecebegins a cold-working stage, the so-calledgrinding.

The grinding is a very important stage in manufacturingglass. There are many grinding techniques to create

refined effects on glass surfaces.

The grinding Master proceeds with slow and wise

movements in order to complete the art-piece.

Numerous grinding techniques are part of the historicand artistic estate of VENINI.

Work realized with hand-made and blown glass, consisting of three

different elements. Each is a triangular column with curved surfaces

Each work is composed of a triptych of separated elements, each

finished with a different grinding technique:

Rosetta: characterized by numerous small geometrical shapesobtained by grinding the surface with a diamond wheel in order to

reach some particular light effects.

Ghiaccio: characterized by an irregular surface obtained thanks toa deep grinding that gives to the object an engraved effect as it was

Ice.

Velato: characterized by a very light grinding, obtained thanks to theuse of abrasive bands, in order to create a glazed surface.

9 further Proofs of Artist will be available in unique colors and

techniques.

The combination of the colors for each triptych has been chosen

personally by TADAO ANDO.
