NatureA multi-faceted, fascinating system of rules
When we engage in agriculture, horticulture or animal husbandry, we
should use the possibilities offered by nature within this system of
rules. We are delighted that support for the unconditional protection of
this system of rules and with it, of bio-diversity, continues to grow.

InnovationNatural, innovative, forward-looking
The objective of the Andermatt Group is to find sensible biological alter-
natives to conventional chemically synthesised crop protection pro-
ducts, pest control products, fertilisers and veterinary drugs and to make
them available in practice – for healthy food and a healthy environment.

Biological Crop ProtectionSolutions for the production of safe food in a healthy environment
Since 1988, we have been strongly committed to finding sensible bio-
log ical solutions and to making them available to professional users
in Switzerland and throughout the world. With more than 50 crop protec-
tion registrations in Switzerland, we have succeeded in designing
a world-class wide range of biological plant protection products. Plant
growth stimulators, biological fertilisers, biocides and various mouse
trap systems round off the wide range. We internationally sell a selected
range of insect viruses, beneficial organisms, monitoring systems,
mouse traps and micro-organism-derived compounds, which are pro-
duced in our production facilities in Switzerland, South Africa and
Canada. Products are distributed through both our own subsidiary com-
panies and by more than 150 distributors in over 60 countries.
Forest ProtectionUsing Nature to Protect our Natural Resources
Forests around the world are often susceptible to large-scale insect pest
outbreaks. In managing these forests against insect pests, all too often,
agrochemicals are still used. Our goal is to develop and provide selective
biological solutions for controlling forest insect pests to save not only
the forests but also the biodiversity that these forests provide.
Home and GardenSmarter by Nature
We are the largest supplier in the whole of Switzerland of biological
products which are in harmony with nature for gardens, balconies
and households. Our diverse range of beneficial organisms for control-
ling pests makes us the specialist for pest control. Together with
biological crop protection products and biocides, we offer robust dis-
ease-resistant bio plants, fertilisers and compost accessories, as
well as various other products for the bio garden and the bio household.
A selection of our most popular products is distributed worldwide.
Animal HealthEctoparasites are our passion
In livestock breeding, integrated pest management concepts against
ectoparasites play an increasingly important role. Stress reduction
by control of ectoparasites is essential for animal welfare and produc tiv-
ity. In Switzerland and Germany, we offer complete solutions with
products based on natural ingredients. Beneficial organisms, plant ex-
tracts and nature-identical active ingredients are optimally combined
for professional use with livestock or bees.
Insects for Human HealthMaggots as champions in surgery
The maggots of Lucilia sericata are able to clean and disinfect wounds
and support the healing of “hard to heal wounds”. We are Switzer-
land’s exclusive producer of therapeutic maggots for the treatment of
chronical wounds. Our product is used by over 50% of the hospitals
in Switzerland. Maggots are well integrated in wound treatment con-
cepts not only for human, but also for veterinary treatment.
Knowhow TransferSuccess in returning to a better understanding
Extensive research has been done on biocontrol and alternative methods
for managing pest problems and plant diseases. This research has
been converted into excellent products which help growers in their core
activities of protecting crops. Successful biocontrol programs require
though a sound understanding of the interactions between plants, insects,
pathogens, the environment and the biocontrol agent, which is often
lacking. Biocontrol Academy seeks to close this knowledge gap by offering
courses in the application of those products to farmers, horticulturists
and hobby gardeners.
History of the Andermatt Group
Andermatt Biocontrol was founded in 1988 by Isabel and Martin Andermatt in their student apartment. At that time they obtained the first approval in the world for the application of a granulovirus in food production (Madex® against Cydia pomonella).
Andermatt Biocontrol constantly expanded its
range and also served hobby gardeners in Swit-
zerland. In the 1990’s, alternative control agents
against the varroa mite were developed. In 2003,
the increasing variety in the range and the diver-
sification of the customer segments led to the
spin off of Andermatt Biogarten and Andermatt
BioVet. Subsequently there was a further spin
off of Andermatt Service and Andermatt Holding
was formed. Since 2012 it has been possible
for those working in the Andermatt Group to
buy shares in Andermatt Holding.
From the moment it was founded, Andermatt
Biocontrol set its sights on the international
market. Over the years, the Andermatt Group
has built up a network of supplier and dis-
tributor companies all over the world. It has
mi nority or majority shareholdings in a pro-
portion of these companies. It is the Andermatt
Group’s objective to continue to build up this
network and to push forward with the replace-
ment of chemically-synthesised products by
effective biological products – for healthy food
and a healthy environment.
