13 These people all died controlled and sustained by their faith, but not having received the tangible fulfillment of [God’s] promises, only having seen it and greeted it from a great distance by faith, and all the while acknowledging and confessing that they were strangers and temporary residents and exiles upon the earth.

13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 39 These were all commended  for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us  would they be made perfect

35 [Some] women received again their dead by a resurrection. Others were tortured to death with clubs, refusing to accept release [offered on the terms of denying their faith], so that they might be resurrected to a better life. 36 Others had to suffer the trial of mocking and scourging and even chains and imprisonment.

39 And all of these, though they won divine approval by [means of] their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised, 40 Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they [these heroes and heroines of faith] should not come to perfection apart from us [before we could join them].

37 They were stoned to death; they were lured with tempting offers [to renounce their faith]; they were sawn asunder; they were slaughtered by the sword; [while they were alive] they had to go about wrapped in the skins of sheep and goats, utterly destitute, oppressed, cruelly treated— 38 [Men] of whom the world was not worthy—roaming over the desolate places and the mountains, and [living] in caves and caverns and holes of the earth.

•  Everything was impossible until someone did it. •  If we can train ourselves to live victoriously and do the things we used to think

were impossible, that impossibility starts to become our new normal.   •  Your new normal starts to change everything. •  When you show yourself you can do the things you didn’t think could be done, you

start to realize that possibility is a choice.  •  the fastest way to do the things you don’t think can be done is to hang around

people already doing them.. Future Hall of Famers If you hang around friends who run twenty miles before breakfast, you’ll start to become a runner.

•  A long walk turns into fifty miles. An idea turns into a revolution. It all starts to become possible. Your new normal

• If you would have told me a group of nine-year-olds were going to swim 1.5 miles from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco in 54 degree water, I would have said it was suicide. Until 50 elementary and middle school kids did it.

• It was at one time a physiological impossibility for a human to run faster than a four-minute mile, • At one time a human-powered flight was a fantasy. • At one time Candlelight was the main way had light after sunset. Anything else was unthinkable, and the idea of electricity was ridiculed. Until it became undeniable. • The unthinkable became the undeniable
