The best way to experience the real Iceland and enjoythe breathtaking scenery is to drive through it at yourown pace. From active volcanoes and hot springs towild waterfalls, black sand beaches, impressiveglaciers, glacier rivers, ice caves and of course theparticularly long days…. In your 'home away from home' (and with a small group oftravel companions) you’ll travel deep into the dramaticinland of Iceland. We’ll avoid the touristic Ring Road andGolden Circle, and even the asphalt, as much as possible.

During this adventure you will leave the beaten path andovercome difficult (off-road) routes. We’ll visit locals'favorite secluded spots - which can only be reached by 4x4vehicles a few months a year - and travel through blackdeserts, deep and challenging river crossings and rugged,varying weather conditions.

Of course it is not just hard work behind the wheel. You’llalso make the most fantastic memories outside of theexpedition truck. For example, think of hiking through thedramatic landscape, enjoying the Icelandic kitchen andbathing in the thermal baths.

On arrival we will be there to hand over the keys of the BlissMobil and to start our training/explanation to show you howyour Bliss Mobil works. This explanation and training is veryimportant to get the most out of the expedition truck andthe journey.

All we expect from you, is to be at the starting location intime and to enjoy the ride!

icelandic adventure intensityNo experience is required for this expedition, only a C1driving license (7.500 kg). The actual intensity of the tripwill partly be determined by factors like weatherconditions and physical condition. The adventure demandsa lot of man and machine. A healthy body and mind, aswell as a well-prepared vehicle ensure that you will beable to enjoy this trip to the fullest.

The travel pace guarantees that a sufficient number ofsights can be visited. The expedition has been planned insuch a way that most of the daily travel distances can becovered in a half-day.

During the expedition we will have to drive as oneconvoy a number of times. Think of departure andarrival, but also in difficult offroad terrain. That's exacltywhy we do these expeditions in small groups. This waywe can help each other with challenging passages andany recovery (if needed). That makes it possible to getto beautiful places where you won't go alone.

In many cases you can decide yourself whether youwould like to travel independently (based oncoordinates) or will join us/the other adventurers. At theend of each day you will meet each other at thebivak/campsite for the night. Of course, you will alsomeet regularly en route. Support and help is alwaysnearby.

As a resident of the EU you do not need a visa for theIceland expedition. Your passport or Europeanidentity card is sufficient. If you are a resident ofanother country, please contact Overland Travel. Wewill gladly assist you with the visa application ifdesired.
