Hi Fellow K2 Wingers and Guest,
November has come and gone. December is here and don’t let the cool weather scare you off from riding. We will still ride often if the weather cooperates. Donna is doing such a Great Job in leading us to new places and she always want to hear from you on your favorite place to ride. It was a great time we spent practicing group riding. Stops and turns, slow turns and quick stops. We will have more practicing soon.
It was a great surprise when Chapter H came to visit us at our last Gathering. Nice to see same old faces and new ones. I’m sure Stoney (Carl) will do a great job leading on Chapter H to new levels. Brick (Sam) has led the Chapter for the last 2 years and did well. Thanks to Sam.
As for our Chapter, we have six new members. Please help me welcome them into our K2 County Wings Family: John and Mary Diaz, John and Donna Camacho, Charles Williams and Tamara Miller.
We will soon take over the Pizza Hut during our monthly gathering as the Chapter continues to grow. Yeah! (Continued on next page)

MEC UPDATE
It has gotten cold outside and many of us have parked the bike (maybe not due to
weather but for maintenance or projects). Although we may not be riding our beautiful
motorcycles at this time of year, we can continue to promote GWRRA. Recruit new
members, and take care of our current membership!
Our members are important!! Where do we find them and how do we ask people
interested and want to become part of our family? We need to reflect on the reason(s)
we joined:
Emphasis on safety
Education
Shared technical information
Enjoyment of riding with friends and meeting new friends
Fun, Family-oriented activities and events
Emergency towing and roadside assistance offered by Rescue Plus
Knowledge of best places to ride (and EAT)!!
In most cases the motorcycles brought us together and it’s the relationship and
GWRRA ideas that keep us together –“FRIENDS FOR FUN, SAFETY and
KNOWLEDGE”.

RYDE TYME
November was a blast! We kicked off this month by heading down
to Corpus for a three-day, fun filled, LOTS of riding time with a
great group of people. Friday night was a great ride on the ferry
over to the casino boat. First thing I saw upon walking onto the
boat was a rough seas advisory posted regarding sea swells up to
6'. Should have been my first clue! I became best friends with a
bucket and a couch. I am glad the rest of the group had "smooth
sailing". Ate at some yummy restaurants, laughed (cried, really!) at
Elva's first raw oyster ordeal and her penchant for hot stuff! More
food, Karaoke, more riding, lots more fun. Then it was time to
head home.
A beautiful day and time for kick stands up! The Devil's Backbone
was the destination! What fabulous roads, great temps and such a
fun group! Up and down and around the curves to Wimberly via
the Backbone, lunch, and over to the Blanco courthouse where
we wandered around the square checking out the many vendors.
Lots of handmade wares. Great Christmas gift possibilities. Off to
home! (Continued on next page)

TIPS FROM DONNA
(Continued from previous page)
After too much turkey, time to ride and end the month with a
mission to find camels! Breakfast and off to Alamo Cycle Plex to
check out the sales, then KSU to Camp Verde. Riding 46 to
Bandera, the colored leaves blending with the faded green,
really put me in autumn mode. Arriving at Camp Verde we didn't
see any camels but saw some really huge buffalo (Tatanka per
Eddie!!) lounging on the grass. We did see a Kamikaze squirrel
who decided in midair that he wanted to live another day...and
he made it!! We found a really cool place for lunch in Center
Point called Toucan Jim's, wow! We plan to make another trip
back.
SAFETY TYME
We decided to mix it up a bit and do some informal parking lot
practice. Panic stops, weaves, friction zone, circles, etc. It's
amazing what a difference a little practice can make. As
mentioned in our monthly meeting, as the temps drop, so does
your psi. Please remember to check your tire pressure. Dress in
layers when temps drop so that you can de-layer when temps
rise. Check out the wind chill chart in the attached link and keep
it handy for cold weather riding.

T'was the night before Christmas, when all thru Town Everything was nice. No one around. The Wings were parked in the lot with such care In hopes that Christmas soon would be there. Most of the Chapter were nestled snug in their beds While visions of new chrome danced in their heads. Michael and Pat put away their vests Were ready to settle in to take a nice rest. When out there rose such a clatter Mike sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window he looked out to see What was all that commotion? What could it be? The moon was so bright and gave off a glow And lit up the 1500 as it sat down below. When what did he see? He really did say But a sleigh being pulled by Eight K2 members coming this way. With a beaming, happy driver-and I’m not lying. He knew in a moment it was something he would be buying. More rapid than Wings members they came And they whistled and shouted and called each others name: “Now Armando! Now Donna! Now Dick and Now Wayne! On Curtis, On, Eddie! On, Greg and all by Name!
To the top, on to the roof right away with things to do! I’ve got some goodies here for Chapter K2.” And in a minute I heard some hoots the tromping and stomping of sixteen boots. As I looked from the window was turning around Down from the ceiling Mike came dressed like a clown. He wore a vest adorned with dangly things. He had buttons, patches and stuff about Wings. A bundle of goodies he had flung on his back. He looked like a peddler just opening his pack. He stretched his legs and as he got off his wing He looked like a vendor that was at Wing Ding. His eyes— How they twinkled! His dimples how merry! Had he already been shivering. His nose was like a Cherry. He was licking his lips, and, UH, well, he wasn’t quite lean. Apparently he was finishing up something he had at Dairy Queen. A wink of his eye and a tug on his ear And just like that he did disappear. He sprang to his 1500 and to the folks Did he yell and shout, “ It’s been fun, y’all, but peace I’m out.”

“JD and MARY DIAZ” I have been riding since I was 17 years old. Mary’s only ridden as my passenger. I’ve only owned one bike: Gold Wings 1500. Only doing country rides. We enjoy the country scenery when we ride to: Bandera, Fredericksburg, Boerne, Kerrville and New Braunfels. Mary and I enjoy looking for great old finds...that's something we enjoy doing together.
