to better combine rear yard with their 1950’s house in Alderley. They preferred large posts and cathedral roof timbers, and were concerned how this could be married with the existing house. They wanted a better kitchen and laundry, plus ensure a study was accommodated. Designers added in a powder room.

• Latemore Design used a pavilion structure for a new informal living space, linked to house via a traditional roof. The link became a long galley style kitchen, laundry and study, tying the existing front areas to the pavilion and beyond. Flat sheet with cover strips was utilized on walls, so addition is read as a distinct element, while still having matching tile roof. Decks have been placed at the large doors, with southern one quite large, covered with ‘floating’ polycarbonate roof.

usage • Latemore Design adopted a fully Hyne
framed solution, utilizing ring beams supporting a pyramidal roof frame. This elegant solution has completely satisfied the owner’s intent. Designers opted for elevated timber floor, using Hyne LGL joists and bearers treated to H3 level. All of this suited the difficult site access, and very little earthworks occurred. As well, the building is further protected from termite attack, with Hyne T2 wall framing.
