The commission held an emergency meeting at noon Thursday and made the dec- laration for Memorial Hall, the police department and the Kingfisher Power Plant building. Kingfisher’s city com-mission took its turn declar-ing an emergency on three buildings as a result of the May 11 hail storm.
The commission held an emergency meeting at noon Thursday and made the dec-laration for Memorial Hall, the police department and the Kingfi sher Power Plant building.
Many structures, in-cluding homes, businesses and vehicles, suffered con-siderable damage citywide when the afternoon storm brought hail as large as baseballs.
The city wasn’t exempt.Memorial Hall had mul-
tiple windows busted out on the west side and dam-
ages are expected to exceed $10,000.
The power plant also had damage to windows and, as a result, two generators are offl ine due to elements coming in the windows.
That, too, is expected to exceed $10,000, but City Manager Dave Slezickey told commissioners he is still waiting on quotes for Memorial Hall and the power plant to submit to the insurance company.
