We started our Florida trip off with a visit from Bob Fellows from Sarasota,  Florida.   We met for dinner in Goffstown, New Hampshire.  He was up here for a short visit.  He came to lodge the following night too and we named the new class of Masons after him. He immediately responded with favor on using his name.   He does work with his church in Florida, helping the homeless and giving them a hand up.   He's enjoying his retirement in Florida. The next brother on the list is PM John Martin the oldest living PM of Ancient York #89.  He is living in Orlando, Florida.  I sent letters to John and didn't get any response, but we stopped by his home while we were in Orlando anyway.  He unfortunately did not answer the door.  I left a note tucked into the door letting him know we stopped by and the number of the cell phone we had with us in case he got the message while we were still in the area.  I have not heard from John yet.

We traveled to a town called Bradenton, Florida where PM Tom Streck  and his wife Evelyn live in a gated community with three golf courses called Heritage Harbor. He is the Past Master of  a lodge in Waltham that had a fire and unfortunately closed.  He worked at Wang and being close by, affiliated with Ancient York Lodge.  Tom enjoys golf and Evelyn is going to be joining him for some golf in the near future.

We stopped in Tarpon Spring and checked out that seacoast town.  We went to an aquarium and watched them swim in the tanks and feed the sharks.  We continued up the west-coast of Florida to Homosassa where PM Walter Alcox lives with his childhood sweetheart, Betty.

We stayed with Walter and Betty for three nights and could've stayed a lifetime.  We went everywhere and saw so much.  From a monkey island, (with five monkeys happily living there), to the state wildlife park to see manatees, to a steel drum concert, and the last night a sunset cruise.  Walter and Betty live in a small friendly  community.  They are very active in their church, which by the way sponsored the steel drum band the first night we were there. With a  wonderful array of songs in celebration of Memorial Day Weekend.  including a medley of the five songs representing the five branches of the service.

We then went looking for Renaud Dubois in Holiday Florida.  He was in his driveway working on his car when we arrived.  He moved to Florida to help his mom with his dad.  He has decided to make Florida his home.  He enjoys the weather, has a good job, and was hoping to affiliate with the lodge in Holiday, not far from where he's living.  He's wishing everyone well and sending an open invitation to come to Florida to visit....

When we returned to Nashua we got a call from Gary Hughes.  He and his wife Kay drove up from Florida for a wedding.  They were on the way through Nashua and we met at the park and ride at exit 6.  Gary was raised in 1972 and his father was a PM in a lodge in Tampa.  Gary spends time fishing and hunting and is really enjoying his new hobby of taxidermy.  He doesn't know how he found the time before retiring, they stay so busy now and enjoy every minute.  He says "you guys don't know what you're missing (meaning the weather in Florida) I'm  tired of the the ice and snow.  Wishing all well and a great year."

During the Summer Ray McDonald and his wife, Chris live in Hollis, NH at Depot Village and in the winter months they enjoy not having to deal with the snow in Inverness Florida.  We presented Ray with a 70 year certificate and pin.  He and his wife are doing well.  During World War II he was a B-24 bomber pilot.  He and George Dooley are the last two men on the World War II plaque.  George was a Navy Seabee in the Pacific.

We had wonderful weather throughout our trip.  We were pleased to have met with so many of our brothers.  We'd like to give a special Thank you to Ken Ziehm for letting us use his vacation home in Kissimmee, Florida.  It was a beautiful home with a pool and spa.  Hoping to track down the other 19 brothers from Ancient York Lodge #89 in one way or another and will keep you posted on the progress.
