The son of Hera and Zeus Hephaestus was ugly and lame he may have been shunned for his awful looks, he was also skills as a craftsman. He made the most fantastic jewelry and weapons that were prized by both mortals and immortals.

The Temple of Hephaistos is a Doric peripteral temple that has 6 columns along the front and 13 along the side. It measures 3.71m x 38.24m and was built around 449 BCE.

Located on the western edge of the Agora of Athens. The large bronze statues of Hephaestus and Athena, both created by Alkamenes between 421 and 415 BCE, have been lost but descriptions of them remain.

Temple of Hephaestus was originally dedicated to Artemis, but that is still uncertain. Within the temple it is known that there were two cult statues: one for Hephaestus and one for Athena.
