Just when things seem like they cant get much worse in the economy thereis more bad news. Even though over $2 trillion in stimulus was released intothe American economy, the month of August saw zero jobs added none. Now President Obama has proposed a jobs bill that would inject anadditional $450 billion into that same economy in a desperate attempt atstimulating growth. America is like the Egypt of Pharaohs dream of fatcows being eaten by skinny cows which remained sickly: despite gorging onmassive stimulus the economy remains scrawny and emaciated. As the earth

faces a double dip recession, is there any reason to rejoice?

Revelation 18:4 "Come out of her, my people, so that you will notshare in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues20Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets!

We looked in the last newsletter at Babylons fall in Revelation 18 andconcluded that a) the presence of economic chaos in the earth is anindication of the Sovereignty of God. b) the events that move us to the endof time cannot be fixed by the efforts of man. That reality was born outagain last week as the G-20 met in Washington, DC to once again addressthe global economic crisis. The worlds Finance Ministers pledged to takeall necessary actions to preserve the stability of the banking systems and

financial markets.

Nice words, but these Finance Ministers have the unfortunate experience oftrying to fix a global economy that God is breaking down. As they weremeeting and making their pronouncements the Dow Jones dropped 391points, and Asian and European markets also fell as did commodities like oiland gold. Another confirmation that the events that move us to the end oftime cannot be fixed by the efforts of man. There is no fix, no silver bulletfor America or the nations that will pull everyone out of the slump. Butthere is something else we see in Revelation 18 while Babylon is beingjudged there is a powerful church filled with saints, apostles and prophetswho are rejoicing at her destruction.

We can say that there is a direct connection between the advance of theChurch on the one hand, and the onset of economic chaos across the planeton the other. The fall of Babylon occurs with the full participation of a powerful Church which is in complete alignment with the laws andcommands of heaven. This is a mature church which is interacting with theSovereignty of God as its primary operational environment; when heavenrejoices at destruction they also rejoice. The saints, apostles and prophetsview Babylons judgment as a time of victory and gladness.

These verses indicate that the two things are both part of the same reality we cannot have massive crisis without the presence of a powerful Churchthat is perfectly aligned with God. There are four distinguishing

characteristics listed in Revelation 18 of the Church which thrives while

the earth is experiencing meltdown and crisis, and we will look at each ofthem in the next four issues: a) a process of purification and a separation between the true Church and the false, Babylonian church b) functionalapostolic leadership that builds and reforms the church c) Effective building prophets who work in concert with apostolic leadership tostrengthen the people d) Powerful Kingdom believers who are unmovedduring crisis. Lets look at the first one:

A process of purification and a separation between the true Churchand the false, Babylonian church.

Revelation 18:4 "Come out of her, my people, so that you will notshare in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues

The first thing we see about the church which exists at the end of time is ithas responded to a call from heaven for purity. I dont want to beunnecessarily offensive, but I have to be somewhat plain spoken to bringattention to the danger we are facing the church at large is in a very sadstate and we have to change. One has to only turn on their television toobserve that sad reality. It is my personal view that people didnt start outcorrupt; I think many were called by God and had a seed of correctnesswithin them, but as time has gone by they have learned to rely more andmore on their flesh and on carnal mechanisms to try and accomplish aspiritual mandate. Seduction by the enemy has been subtle, rationalized bya quest for ministry success and reaching more people to the point that atthe end of time the time we are living in right now the church has been

so compromised that it is one with Babylon.

Quite apart from a false message of acceptance that winks at sin andglorifies self-fulfillment, we can see that in the way Christendom glorifiesthe largest or fastest growing churches, as if the Kingdom was a list ofFortune 500 companies. In the Babylonian church bigger is better, famebetter than anonymity and cash king over all. But we are commanded tocome out of Babylon so we wont share in her sins and receive her plagues.If we continue to live by Babylons value systems we will share in thesame judgment God is pouring out on her. The word share means to beassociated in some joint activity with the implication of an ongoing

It is when God is dealing with the

earth in His Sovereignty that Herequires the church to change. It

is crisis which distinguishes

between the true and the false

church. During a t ime of

shaking, the true Church receives

a Kingdom that cannot be

shaken (Hebrews 12:26), while

the fraudulent, Babylonian church

receives the same plagues being

poured out on the false system

fear, torment and an inability tostand when God begins to move

powerfully in the earth through

economic meltdown and global

crisis. A time of global economic

crisis in the nations is a day of

repentance within the church.

God is merciful so as He begins

to move His cry to the people of

God is to come out of her, with

the warning that if we dont we

will share in her plagues. The

materialistic church that is not

converted will be destroyed.

Therefore we MUST Leave

B a b y l o n , f l e e f r o m t h e

Babylonians! Announce this with

shouts of joy and proclaim it.

Send it out to the ends of the

earth (Isaiah 48:20).

relationship. So this is a church that shares in the mercenary gospel of self-interest and personal blessing which is behind global consumerism. The same word used for merchants in Rev 18:23 (emporos) describes themoneychangers who Jesus drove out of the temple because they turn my Fathers house into a market(emporeeon) (John 2:16). So even though they were in the temple, their motivation and internal positions were infull agreement with a Babylonian reality they were merchandising the anointing and the purposes of God.

Manifestations of a Plastic ChurchIt is the same way today - the materialistically minded and carnal church is a subset of Babylon that Peterdescribed as those who in their greed these teachers will exploit (emporeuomai) you with stories they have madeup (2 Peter 2:3). The Babylonian church is an emporium designed to extract finance. The leaders dont have anauthentic process to minister to the people so they have to make up stories the word used is plastois, whichmeans that which is easily molded like clay or wax. It is the word that we get the English word plastic from.

The idea here is that the Gospel of the Kingdom is compromised and molded by men with a mercenary motivation they distort and water down the Kingdom into a non-confrontational / accommodating message. It is amarketing strategy meant to attract the mass of consumers the motivation is to build a following andmerchandise the people to get their money or to grow in carnal power. The Babylonian church is cosmetic andexternal, it looks very powerful but it is insubstantial when you scratch beneath the surface you can see howlacking it is in authentic faith and relationship to Christ.

A plastic or made up church is expressed in other ways also: a) empty words of preaching not backed up bysubstantial internal development and personal process b) distorted reports and false legends of ministry exploitsthat hype the peoples faith c) lying miracles and an emphasis on outward triggers to stimulate peoples flesh d)synthetic relationships within churches and networks instead of covenantal joining e) quasi-apostolic networkswhich declare themselves to be governmental but which are actually based in a democratic ethic in which no truespiritual superintendence is exercised so as not to offend people and to avoid confrontation, f) a church whichcreates man-made doctrines which contradict the eternal Word of God, for example the twisted perception that aloving God could not create a hell so therefore there is no hell, or that God is so loving the church should loveeveryone and be inclusive, including admitting unrepentant homosexuals to worship, etc. These realities willincrease and come to fruition as God brings the entire earth to a place of harvest.

The first word of the gospel of the Kingdom is repent it is an indication that to access the Eternal God we mustchange. But repent has been removed because that keeps too many people out. Instead other false entrancepoints to the Kingdom have been created, including: a) develop your gifts b) sow a seed c) receive a blessing, etc.

CompetitionJude 11-13 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error;they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion. 12 These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating withyou without the slightest qualm-shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blownalong by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted-twice dead.

Jude lists specific qualities of Babylon represented by icons of darkness named Cain, Balaam and Korah. Cainrepresents a competitive ethic, jealous over the acceptance of his brothers offering and the rejection of his own.

Certainly competition is a quality that exists in broad cross sections of thechurch as people jostle to be the biggest or most naturally dominant churchin a city or region.

One church I was familiar with had the classic leadership dysfunctionalityof Saul and David. The senior leader was a powerful teacher and couldminister prophetically, and his church grew and added many associateministries which, as they grew into their own gifts and callings, threatenedthe senior leader. He in turn responded by cutting their preachingassignments or assigning them to small church start-ups out in thebackwater. The sons grew up, resented their spiritual father for competingwith them and holding them back, and when they had enough power theythrew him out. Though the church seemed to prosper for years and had afollowing of 1,000s and many church plants, today it has ceased to existbecause it was founded on the wrong ethic.

The same kind of ethic was deeply embedded in some prophetic circles. Prophets who were genuinely called byGod struggled with a lack of identity that produced competition. Who could give the most accurate propheticword? Be invited to the biggest churches? Have a key word for a nation? The same competitive ethic exists inthose who want to receive a word from God I have seen people push and jostle one another in their quest for a

word from God. Some leaders encourage it by telling the people to press in and they use Biblical stories about thewoman pressing in to touch Jesus, but they violate the Word of God andthey build within the people carnal aggression rather than true spiritualpursuit.

We Have to Change!It is when God is dealing with the earth in His Sovereignty that He requiresthe church to change. It is crisis which distinguishes between the true andthe false church.
