The establishment of the VAS was in response to a need for a

commercial coal testing facility in the Delmas area of the

Witbank Coalfields. We offer effective services and always

strive for the highest quality.

International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005, granted on 28 July

2015 and facility number T0692. We participate in a number of

coal testing industry Proficiency Testing Schemes

VAS Quality Assurance Program ensures that our data meets the best

international quality standards. Our laboratory uses concepts of Total

Quality Management (TQM), which continuously refines laboratory

processes based on continuous quality feedback. This ensures

consistent operations on a daily basis.

VAS complies with ISO 17025:2005 and is SANAS accredited,

accreditation number T0692.

VAS also continually monitors its analytical processes through the

application of statistical process control (SPC). SPC involve plotting

the results of chemical processes and using statistical methods to

monitor, evaluate, and predict process behaviors. SPC is an effective

tool that determines if process results are outside either the

acceptable range for the chemical process or outside the quality

standards our labs adhere to. Problems are detected and remedied

promptly to ensure analytical accuracy.

SHEQ Management system:

Our Safety management system is designed to manage safety elements in our scope of work. The main

purpose of our system is to implement and monitor safety and compliance at all our laboratories.

The system is put in place for goal setting, Planning and measuring performance, it includes legal re-

quired documents to be used for all purposes (Safety, Quality, HR, Technical and operations) as well as

company Procedures, Work instructions, Policies ect.

Health and Safety Plan

Vitrovian Analytical Services health and safety plan is directed at identifying all planned and un-

planned risks and activities with a purpose and objective to eliminate, treat, transfer, minimize, mitigate

and investigate incidents and injuries on sites.

The scope also addresses legal compliance, hazard identification and risk control by promoting working

environment that is safe and healthy amongst employees involved in the project and all those individu-

als who may be directly or indirectly affected by the activities of the project taking place.

Training and Induction

It is the priority of Vitrovian Analytical Services management to ensure that employees are trained and

made aware of hazards and risks in the workplace, therefore employees will be trained in health and

safety requirements associated with their work activities.

Competency

It is the commitment of Vitrovian Analytical Services to ensure that employees are equipped with rele-

vant training to carry out their tasks as safely and healthy as possible.

Awareness

Awareness campaigns are important in promoting health and safety within the organization, boosting

staff morale and showing management commitment, therefore Vitrovian Analytical Services manage-

ment conducts regular staff meeting where improvements and concerns are conversed between man-

agement and staff.

We have new health and safety slogans every month to promote awareness this information is commu-

nicated with employees during these staff meetings and place on notice boards at all laboratories.
