THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS

I know that the movie 'The silence of the Lambs' is a thriller movie because of the story line. In

the trailer of this film, it shows us the female character going to the most wanted serial killer for

help to find the original serial killer. however one thing leads to another, giving the captured

killer to escape dressed as a police officer. as one gets captured another escapes, the genre of

this is given away directly as thriller because the story line used is there to make the audience

jump off there seat and really engage into the movie to see what is happening and why.

In the film, in one of the scenes a close up shot is used of the serial killers face.

this shows the destructive and unpredictable side of what he might have in store for

everyone. This close up shows us that him help the woman could go either way, there

are only two ways that this should end. One way is that he helps and the killer is

captured or he makes every end aggressively and escapes. This tells us that the film is

a thriller based movie because of the events hat take place and different camera shots

when the main character Jodie Foster goes to visit the serial killer Anthony Hopkins, for help. When he starts speaking a

violin starts playing with a quickly rhythm and this causes a lot of suspense because she is in a room with a serial killer,

you would never know what he is thinking. This makes it a thriller movie because in these type of movies, high pitched

instruments are one of the conventions.

Another reason why it is a thriller movie is because there are a variety of quick cuts. The quick cuts are used in the

scene where the serial killer, Anthony Hopkins escapes. He cuffs one police officer to the trails and starts to chew on

the other. The quick cuts are showing what Anthony Hopkins is doing and the police officers reaction. This shows

how much he is trembling in fear and shock.
