In 1996, they formed the rock band Coldplay,originally known as Pectoralz, later changed to Starfish temporarily until finally they wereoffered the name Coldplay by another band who did not want it anymore.One of the earliest songs played by the band that exists today is known as Ode to Deodorant.The song was written as a joke between university friends and was also put on the demo ofthe band along with the song Brothers & Sisters. Coldplay then proceeded to sign a dealwith a record company and released their first EP Safety, which over performed theexpectations of the record company and the band.Since the release of their first album Parachutes in 2000 the band has had internationallyrecognized fame and success.
