Analysis of existing products I have researched some existing recipe cards to give my team member and me some inspiration in what’s out there and also what is popular with people. The recipe card I found was a Christmas themed card. As you can see by the picture it fits in with the theme, you can tell straight away what kind of food it is and what it’s based on Advantages The advantages for this recipe card are that, the colours fit in with the Christmas theme (red). And to make the card look more interesting the are illustrations of the celebration such as a present. The layout is well structured and easy to follow, and not over crowding the space. Also the image used is high quality and also appetising which will make the consumer want to buy this recipe card. Another advantage that I have picked out is that there is a brief description at the top of the card telling you about the Christmas pudding and who’s recipe it is. I think this is really interesting as not many cards put this information. Disadvantage I picked a few disadvantages for this recipe card. One disadvantage is that the recipe card is A4; I think that this is too big to be used in the kitchen as it looks like it would be a lot of hassle. Another disadvantage I have noticed is that the text style is not very appropriate to read, as it is small and not very clear. This should be altered and a more clear bold font should be used so you don’t get mixed up and have trouble to read when you are cooking. Lusi Ndoja

Analysis of existing products

I have researched some existing recipe cards to give my team member and me some inspiration in what’s out there and also what is popular with people. The recipe card I found was a Christmas themed card. As you can see by the picture it fits in with the theme, you can tell straight away what kind of food it is and what it’s based on

Advantages

The advantages for this recipe card are that, the colours fit in with the Christmas theme (red). And to make the card look more interesting the are illustrations of the celebration such as a present. The layout is well structured and easy to follow, and not over crowding the space.

Also the image used is high quality and also appetising which will make the consumer want to buy this recipe card. Another advantage that I have picked out is that there is a brief description at the top of the card telling you about the Christmas pudding and who’s recipe it is. I think this is really interesting as not many cards put this information.

Disadvantage

I picked a few disadvantages for this recipe card. One disadvantage is that the recipe card is A4; I think that this is too big to be used in the kitchen as it looks like it would be a lot of hassle.Another disadvantage I have noticed is that the text style is not very appropriate to read, as it is small and not very clear. Another card we have found researched is the breaded zucchini sticks again fitting in with the theme of vegetarian. This is more of a started course. There are 2 images on this card of the food presented, on in the right hand corner and then other is on the left hand side acting as the background image.

Advantages

The colour scheme of the card is green and well presented as its used on t he outside boarder of the card and also used for the headings and title. This

makes to card look more professional as they have used a house style through out the card.Another advantage is that the font size and style are a good choice as its is easy to read and follow and also clear. I also like how they have set the layout out as it is well structure and easy to follow. I like the card size as its easy to handle as the space has been used well and there are no over crowds to confuse the person using the card.

Disadvantages

The disadvantage I found in this recipe car is that in the ingredients list is not very clear as a few of the ingredients are next to the other ingredients which there fore doesn’t make the card very clear. To improve this they should of chosen a smaller font size to make it look more professional and have it all in one list instead of looking a mess.

Here is another recipe card I have found is that, as you can see the design of the card is more different than the others. On this recipe card there are three different colours used, red, white and black. The card is very detailed with design. The image is a clear picture of what the food is and it’s of high quality it also has a boarder making the image more noticeable and eye catching.

Advantages

The first advantage I found on this recipe card is that the colour fits in with the food they have presented. This shows that they have thought of a house style making the card more professional.Another advantage is that again the size of the card is A5 making it easier to handle and use for in the kitchen.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages for this cad are, the font size is small making more difficult to read. Also the font style they have selected is not suitable as the style is very small not very clear to be able to read easily. Another disadvantage is that there are no titles or sub headings on the car to tell you what each section represents, this makes it harder to read s the ingredient over laps with the method on how to cook the food.

Here I have found a different style of recipe cards. In the image you can see that the card is not individual it’s comes as a set. There are four different cards with different types of food, showing you in the left hand corner where it’s a starter, main or a dessert dish. The cards are simple and appropriate to use in the kitchen. These style of cards would be suitable for people who want to start cooking home foods as it’s a great way of learning as it tells you what sort of dish you want to cook.

Advantages

The first advantage that I have found in this recipe card is that for each title of the food it has the same font used on every card. This makes the card more professional as they have kept the fonts style the same throughout each car. Another advantage is that each dish type is colour co-coordinated; this makes it easier to identity what kind of dish it is. The layout of the card again is the same throughout the set of cards making it look more professional. I like how the image in always on the left hand side and the text is on the right hand side making it more easier to read.

Here I have found a different style of recipe card. It is nicely decorated and looks very eye catching. The card almost looks like a post card making it easy to handle and use for in the kitchen. As you can see on the card there is no image of the food presented.

Advantages

An advantage for this card is the layout is nice structured and separated from on another making it easier to see where you are looking at to read. Another advantage is that the sub headings and title are in the same colour and the sub headings in the same font style making it easier to read from the points listed below making it easier to read and not clashing. I also like the colours that are used on the card making the card look more colourful and appealing. The boarder fit in with the headings giving it a more professional look.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages for this recipe card is that there is no image of the recipe for people who have never cooked this kind of dessert would want to know what the outcome and to visualise what it will look like. It also makes the card more interesting adding a photograph of the recipe. Another disadvantage is that the card is too basic with brief points, adding some more information would balance the card out as there is no image this would make the card look more professional.

Here is another style of recipe card I have found. This card is a lot more detailed with information giving clear instructions. The colours that are used are purple and white and this has been used throughout the card.

Advantages

The layout of the recipe card is nicely structured and has a good flow to it as its easy to read and organised. Another advantage is that, the image is of good quality and has a boarder again making the image more noticeable and eye catching. The headings and title are all bold separating them from the text making it easier to read.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages are that the recipe card looks boring and needs more bright colours to make it more interesting and eye catching. Another disadvantage is that the text is not very spaced out and it looks messy as its all just been place on the card.
