    Case SummaryCase Summary

    Case is about three men Parvez Vatcha, Athanu Deb and

    Raghav Vijaychandran. Parvez is the CEO of Delaware India,

    FMCG company and Athanu and Raghav worked under him.

    In1993 due to liberalization Raghav left Delaware to join other

    company for power and glory and process went on. Each time heleft the organization, organization changed track.

    Athanu also quitted Delaware, at present he was successful ,but

    was disturbed by serious and widening ideological differences

    with his chairman. At the end, both seek for Parvez Vatcha ,in their troubled state

    though for different reasons.

    Vatcha dwells, perceptively, on self-development andinternal assets which do not appear on balance-sheets ofcorporates. Perhaps, Raghav and Athanu have notinvested enough here, hence, they are vulnerable to be

    taken over.. The case has no easy or final answers. It is symptomatic

    of what we see around us, reflected in disillusion, lack ofpurpose and self-respect. Sadly, this finds outlets in

    disrespect to others as a means of concealing our owninadequacy. We cannot move to grounds which root us,but prefer platforms of acclaim for a temporary fix. Ourhorizons shrink, we shrink.

    y The case is not only about morals or personalvalues. It encompasses the realities of earning aliving, social aspirations, providing for the family

    and education. Expenses mount as we want toprovide our dear ones inputs and standardsappropriate to their future.A small-town lad from a Regional EngineeringCollege, makes it to the dazzle. Not to be scoffedat. Sadly, he sees himself as a failure because hecould not sustain the dazzle. He ignores hissuccesses. Cant build on them.

    y Vatcha has also lived a life measuring himself while hehas travelled his lifes journey. But in his story, thingsrepeat themselves. He knows that what goes aroundcomes around. He does not have to chase. He just has tomove on; if he misses one opportunity another wouldcome. It may not be the same. His life may take adifferent direction. He is comfortable because he sees allmovement as purpose. Likes of Raghav and Athanu

    panics when they loses something as they did. Vatcha,however, knows that even if he loses, it is does not affectwho he is. Vatcha seems to have banked his experiences asthe belief in his purpose.

    y To build emotional aspects of courage,

    confidence, patience, desire to learn instead of

    monetary assets. They should focus on the inner

    development , to be more objective in theirdecision making and while dealing with the

    factors .

    y Parvez could have mentored them with all theexperience he carry with him .

    y Both Athanu & Raghav still have good 10 years

    of working life left , so it is better to start with

    fresh zeal ,although it is difficult but not

    impossible . With all their past experience theycan be more effective and objective , and for this

    Mr. pervez can play a very important role .

    ySpecifically Athanu need to be a little flexibleand should try to come out of his idealistic

    world concept , and should be more emparical .

    y Raghav should try to stick to one organization

    where he can be able to balance between his

    desires and emotions , and also focus on

    controlling his need for power which he finds asdriving force which has made him work they he

    had worked till now.

    Eras come and go. Each time has its ownhurdles and challenges which are difficultbut not impossible.

    Each one reevaluates, diagnose and searchwithin themselves.

    Our mission will be accomplished by living

    according to values that speak to theeconomic, social, and environmentalresponsibilities of business and society.
