Why are we told who is starring in the film? How is this information given to us and why?

In this trailer they have not told us which actors are starring in this film or who directed, this is because with horror trailers they do not need that information to promote the film, the film genre itself promotes and advertise itself.

Other film genres use the actors to advertise and promote the film. E.G. Tom cruise will star in an action film and the promoters will use that because they know fans will go and watch the films.

They would also tell us who directed the film because that will please the audience. E.G. Michael Bay directed Transformers so we will know what kind of film and what we are getting.

What type of action from the film do we see? This trailer is a sub genre horror trailer. Unlike other horror films like SAW there is not much action in this trailer. However there is one scene that is quite action.

The shot that I have screen grabbed is an image of an axe going through the door. This scene was very loud which creates an atmosphere amongst the audience. This particular scene made me jump which I think will make everyone else jump.

What can you say about the voice of the person delivering the voice-over? Why do you think this

voice was chosen? What effect does it have?

This trailer does not have a voice over, however many trailers,Including horror trailers do. I think the voice is there to get the Audience and views almost ready or prepared for the trailer that isComing out. The voice is usually very loud and vibrant. I think this voiceWas chosen to get the audiences attention and to make the trailer More appealing.

How does the speed of what we see compare to watching a clip from a film? Does the speed alter through the trailer or stay the same?

The pace and tempo in a horror trailer is very different when compare to the pace and tempo in the actual film or a clip from the film. It starts off very slow and then gradually it begins to get faster and faster, I think this is done to create and atmosphere within the cinema. As you can see in the screen grabs the story develops through the pace and tempo. With the pace, tempo and music the trailer gradually gets faster, an actual film could not be like this because it will be to fast and we would not have a clue what is going on.

What information are we given in the last frame of the trailer?

In the last frame of the trailer we are told when it is coming the date. We are given a website we can go on if we want to find out more information about the film. We are also given the name and logo of the company and distribution company. All this information is good because now we have seen “rogue pictures” we have an idea of what the film will be like. For example if it said “twisted pictures” we would think SAW and we would have a vague idea of how the film will be portrayed.

Which is more effective in making you want to see the film the poster or the trailer?

In my opinion the film trailer is more effective than the film trailer, my reason for this is that the film trailers gives us an much more of an idea of what we are in for. In a film poster they only give us a picture, that picture could mean anything and does not give us any indication of what the film is about.

However the film poster is good for when you are on the bus gazing out the window and you see the poster it will make you want to look up on the film if the poster is good

people do not like film trailers and posters are very small and handy.

Where would you expect to see this trailer?

You are most likely to see this trailer in the cinema particularly when you are watching a horror film. If you are watching cartoon or Disney film would not see this trailer before your movie. You would see this film trailer in-between TV programmes on channel 4 which promotes a lot of movies and have many premiere networks. You would also see this film trailer in-between maybe the movie channel on sky digital; reason being is that when watching a movie you would like to know what is coming out soon, when watching the movie channel you are already tuned in so it is the perfect time to advertise a film trailer.
