Abstract

This is a practical course that will introduce participants to SPSS and its uses for

statistical analysis through hands-on experience.

The course will consist of interactive online (audio and video) lectures. The

lectures will begin with theory introduction and its real world application followed

by practical session on SPSS.

The course instructor will conduct twice a week online chats with the participants

and will answer the question and discuss different issues regarding data analysis.

Also, individual questions will be answered in online course forum.

First  things  first...what  is  SPSS?

SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Scientists) is a comprehensive statistical and

data management package for analysts and researchers. SPSS makes statistical

analysis more accessible for the beginner and more convenient for the

experienced user.

SPSS is regarded to be the most widely used statistical software in social

sciences, and it has become a common tool also in other sciences (economics,

biology etc.).

During the course both pedagogically prepared "artificial" data and data from real

surveys are used.
